Coolant leak...

I'm leaking coolant and it looks like it's coming from under the transmission, I noticed that there was green coolant on some parts of the transmission, what could this problem be? Or what could be the fix? I concluded it's not the hoses, I'll be taking it in the shop tomorrow. I'm hoping it's nothing too serious....Any helped would be great.

yeah my brother said about the same thing, there's coolant on the top of my transmission. Those rear heater lines are located in the engine by at the top right? Are those easy to install?

Yup, either the heater under the passenger seat or possibly a heater core in dash. Any carpet wet?

Carpet isn't wet, but I did notice some of the coolant dropping down on my transmission. Is it an expensive fix?

So can you take a pic of the leak? The rear heater lines don't run over the transmission, but down the pass side of the frame. Either way, if it is the small hard lines that are leaking, you should be able to cut out the bad part and replace it with soft fuel line.

If it's just a knick, you could probably even just slit a piece of soft line and hose clamp it right over the hole. It would at least be a temporary fix.

just took it to my dads mechanic they said it was the water pump $225 to fix it with parts and labor OEM from Toyota so I'm gonna go ahead and get it fixed. They never done me wrong before and always do any jobs I need at low costs.

Ah, well that explains it too. When was the last time you had your timing belt changed? It might be a good time to do all of the belts and pulley's too.

yeah - it would be a shame to do the waterpump and have to come back 20k miles later to do a TB. I've read that they should be replaced after exposure to coolant anyway

That's a real good price. Definitely consider doing TB and pulleys at the same time unless you are sure they have been done in the last 50K.

At the moment I don't have the money to do the T belt and pulleys, It was last changed at 110k so I think I still have some more miles before I change it, I'm at 162k now. But I wasn't sure if it was the water pump, but thanks for all the help and info guys! There working on it now and are having a problem with a bolt on the tensioner. But should have it done within a few hours.

Okay so I got it back from my dad's shop today, it looks like they fixed it...crosses fingers lol. They said that a seal or something within the water pump was bad and they showed me what looked like a tiny crack on the metal. Hopefully this solves me having to put coolant in my reservoir every other week. Thanks for all the info guys!
