Cooler Box???

Has anyone heard of Cooler boxes? A friend was telling me that they are the latest thing for the "fast and the furious" crowd . . .

Supposedly it is some sort of modification that will cool the air entering your engine compartment, allowing for higher compression and more horsepower, sort of like having nitro for your car, which as far as I understand, also cools the air . . . .

Anyone know anything about this?

I saw a guy on TV put a small bag of ice above the air filter. I guess that's the same idea. Can't remember if it was for a dyno test or for a drag?????/

I've seen the air intakes where there is a built in compartment to store dry ice. Is that the same concept?

As long as the air doesn't flow over the dry ice. CO2 in the cylinder would significantly decrease combustion. Think fire extinguishers. If there was a way to cool the intake air without mixing, I could see some benefit, but if not, it would be ineffective to say the least.

I've read about some guys toying with an A/C type system for an intercooler. SO intsead of just air to air or air to water it is air going through A/C cores to cool down. I can't remember where I've read it and even if it really worked well.
