Cooper A/T3’s with some sidewall coming

I was kinda interested in the xlt's but that interest was quickly deflated when I found out the tire size specs. I'm not interested in lifting, would prefer stock size or 255-75-17.

Except that the pull went away entirely with my new tires and wasn't present with the prior set of tires. And good luck getting Cooper to replace 4 tires, when they won't respond to emails/messages. I have yet to see anyone have success with that.

This is a known issue with a fair number of folks having issues with them on different platforms, ie wranglers, tacomas, 4runners, etc.

Every tire I have bought comes with a 30 day road test warranty from the vendor that installed the tires. Let them deal with Cooper.

For a lot of us, we want a balance of looks and performance.

No matter how many positive reviews I read of the current Cooper AT3 tire, I couldn’t get past the highway tire look. This will make them sell like crazy since they’ll meet that balance of both worlds. Smart move.

I think you're right.

To me AT's pretending to be mud tires is silly. In part because almost no one cares - and the people who do know that they're faux MTs. But a lot of people want it. I'd personally rather have a better tread pattern. Specifically I want the ATW in larger sizes. But I think you're right. It will help sell the tires.

The new at3s look pretty good, but with these ST MAXXs of mine giving me a pull to the right, I'm a bit wary of Cooper right now. I love the look and performance of my tires, but the pull is aggravating as hell.

I can vouch for the pull to the right. It’s a common complaint about the ST Maxx on both Toyota and Jeep forums. I am neurotic about my alignment and perfectly in spec I’d always have a pull to the right. They are great tires other than that one issue.

Same here for the 255's. I wanted to love them. Great off-road. Couldn't say the same for the highway.
I only recently started finding on the Tacoma forums and a member here telling me about as much as 1.5* in cross caster, more or less. Great that that may have been the fix. The pull went away as soon as I got the 285 Ridge Grapplers even with my current 3.8 and 4.2 caster.

A friend of mine actually got some type of highway Cooper tire put on his Jeep Grand Cherokee and it was immediately pulling to the right also. He's gotten it aligned 3 times with no resolution.

Not exactly sure what's going on.

I think we are thinking along the same lines in regards to perhaps finding a 'real' alignment solution. When the guys at 4wheel did my alignment there was hardly any adjustment made. In retrospect I should have maybe had them try an alignment on the 255s first, there seems to be a good chance that that would have been the solution (I'm usually not a fan of chain stores, but all of the guys down there were super helpful and knowledgeable)

I wonder if alignment guys are becoming too reliant on letting the computer do their work for them?

I'd like to see how the xlt look on a 4 runner.It seems like the side wall is still kind of rounded. If you look at the ko2 it looks squared off which gives the tire a wider/better appearance.

My Falken Wildpeaks AT3W were more rounded than the KO2s I now have and they still looked great. I’m not sure the rounded look will look terrible unless it’s obnoxious.

FYI - Cooper will be offering a $70 mail in rebate on all three new models during the month of July. Also - at least for the AT3 4S, the sipes are now full depth unlike the current AT3s.

Yep! I had Discount Tire order mine and it took 3 days. So basically anyone that can get Cooper Tires should be able to get them.

Amazon has these new AT3 4s in stock 265/70r16 size for only $129.72 each

I called discount tire direct (they don't have them listed on their website) and they do indeed have them in stock.

They beat the amazon price for me, so I made the purchase (and added certificates).
They'll be here soon!

I got opted for the P version because most of the driving I do is on pavement/highways and when I am off road it's sand/beaches, dirt roads, gravel or snow. No real wheeling or rock crawling planned for the near future. Got them in stock size, 265/70r17. Only have just under a hundred miles on them, but handling feels great. Also went with white letters in, black out, because just liked the look.

No prob! Will do. I love the look. Not as beefy as some other A/T tires, but I'm fine with that. I can tell you right off the bat that the road noise is no different than the stock Bridgestone Duelers. Pretty impressed we how quiet it is.

Will update as I drive them in different conditions.
