Cooper ATP?

Just wanted to ask around what people thought of the Cooper ATP, local store doesnt have the AT3 and offered the ATP... Im torn between that and BFG AT KO. I really wanted the KO2s but 265/70/17 size is still not available.

Any feedback on these Coopers? Should I stick with tried and true BFG AT KO design?

I have been running the Cooper ATP for a while. Very Good Tire with Great all around traction. Good in the White Stuff too.
 
I have the AT3 on my Runner and my dad has the ATP on his Duramax. His are just a hair more aggressive as far as pattern goes, but I can't really hear any difference as far as road noise goes.
 
I bought some ATPs back in October and have been real happy with them. Did better than expected through some thick mud and on a hill climb. Haven't really pushed the envelope with them yet, but no complaints here.

The guy at Discount Tire said he's never had anyone complain about the ATPs, while (for some scientific reasons regarding the chemistry in the rubber) the BFGs tend to be much more sensitive to uneven wear (according to the tire guy). Needless to say, they seemed in reviews to be very comparable, and the ATPs were significantly cheaper. No brainer for me.
 
I have them on my Land Cruiser and absolutely love them. Wanted them on my Runner but wanted to try the Goodyears instead. Like them as well but the Coopers are hard to beat. Great on AND off road. Did Black Bear Pass this last summer on them and they performed great..

I would definitely buy them for my own truck if they made a bigger sized than 285/70/17. Ive only heard good things about most cooper tires, especially the ATP
 
I love my ATPs, wanted something slightly more aggressive for an all terrain and these have some beefy treads. Been great in dirt/sand/pavement/rain so far!

 
I had 4 new Cooper Adventure AT's installed yesterday. Paid $535 out the door. Pretty much the same as the AT3. I haven't been able to test them out yet but they look great!
 
Are ATP's the in house tire made just for Discount Tires? When I ordered my AT/3's the salesman offered me an in house identical Cooper tire. It was a bit cheaper but I didn't know anything about them. If so it's good to know there's a cheaper alternative. I would love to see some close ups of the tread and sidewall.
 
Thanks for all the feedback, i had seen it was an exclusive tire, just wasnt sure it was up to par with the AT3s stellar reviews. Im getting them balanced and installed today, I will let you know how everything turns out with pics!

Damn now I regret not getting a GX instead of the 4Runner.

Nice looking rig, I wasn't convinced the GX could pull off looking cool. You've convinced me otherwise.
 
I bought my ATPs about a month ago. Like you, I was torn between the AT3s and the ATPs. However, the AT3s are considerably more expensive than the ATPs (dunno why), and like everyone is saying, the ATPs are more aggressive than the AT3s. I usually have my music up pretty loud, but I don't think the ATPs are bad on the road.

I know you've already mentioned your two top choices, but have you also checked out or considered the General Grabber AT/2s?
 
Will the Cooper Discoverer ATP 275/70/17 rub if all I have are Bilstein 5100s on the front raised up about an inch? Everything else is stock.
 
I love my Cooper atp's great entry level all terrain tire, very streetable. I have the 265/70/17 and they do great on and off road. But they do get a bit of wheel spin where the more aggressive AT tires don't get. Although I'm still able to get through the trails.

I have gotten the tires swapped from the stock wheels to my fn wheels no mounting/ balancing problems at all. I can't say enough good things about this tire they have truly made me convert to Cooper tires as a brand in general. When I upgrade I will be stepping up to the more aggressive stt maxx or stt pros tire in 285/70/17 for a 33" tire.

If you're going to be doing mostly pavement driving these tires will be great for you I think they are the least aggressive AT tire Cooper sells.

I think it goes ATP>AT3>STT maxx>STT pro as far as street tires go before you to a full on MT. ATP being a hybrid road/ AT tire, AT3 being a true AT, STT maxx and STT pro being hybrid AT/ MT. Update: Hmmm I guess everyone is saying the ATP is more aggressive, haha I've always thought the AT3 was just a tad more aggressive. Oh well can't go wrong with any tire Cooper makes.

I have had my ATPs 255/75/r17 for over a year. They are my first AT tire but I couldn't be happier with their great all around performance. The weakness for me is when it gets icey. Snow performance is admirable though. It has been great for overland type use in both dry, dusty and gravel type surfaces and the wet, swampish type stuff we have up north. Noise is minimal and MPG did not take a hit.
