Cooper Discoverer AT3 Load C vs E in rain

Have any of you guys experienced the AT3's in Load E in the rain? When I take my 4runner off road the trails can be pretty rocky so Load E is something I'd prefer but I'm concerned with performance in the rain. I have a little one and safety will have to come first. I know the KO2's aren't the best in the rain which is why I'm not going with them.

Should I expect similar results with the AT3's in Load E compared to the KO2's in load E as well?

I’ll speak for the Load C side in that I have never had an all terrain tire perform better in the rain. I have yet to get the tires to break loose when starting in wet conditions, which we have a lot here. Stopping and lateral grip are also well controlled.
Edit: I don’t know why the E range would be much different as they are made of the same compound, have the same siping and same tread depth. The reason the BFG’s struggle is because of the harder rubber compound.

I love the AT3s in pretty much all conditions (no mud for me). They are very good in the rain. I currently have Cs on the T4R, but have used Es on other vehicles with great success.

I have KO2 Cs and have never has a problem in the rain. I have heard that KO2 Es do have problems in wet conditions though. I've wondered if it has something to do with the compounds used or stiffness. I'd recommend sticking with Cs.

Ok. So you think no real difference between C or E in wet weather then?

Correct. They will ride stiffer with the extra ply, but the performance characteristics should be about the same due to having the same design, compounding, siping and tread depth. The load rating should really only effect the stiffness in the sidewall. I run mine between 40 and 44 PSI depending on how heavily I’m loaded down, which should be the same a person would run with an E-Load.
