Cooper Zeon LTZ vs Goodyear Fortera Tripletred

with my old post goodyear vs firestone I have decided to go with the Goodyear and was convinced 85% of purchasing the Fortera TT
I kept searching and reading reviews some good and some bad...the bad ones more about the tread life....
I came across the Cooper Zeon LTZ's...and I really like the way they look and good reviews also. They are a little cheaper than the Fortera and I think they look better too....agressive even if you go with the not to meaty tire size...

any toughts?

I'd bet real money that the GY will ride better and quieter. With your 'street' theme they'd look better too IMHO.

A 'chunky' tire like that Cooper, especially in a 55, just looks like it would be loud and ride rough. I may be wrong and I have NO experience with that Cooper. I have driven a Ford SportTrac with slightly taller GY TT's and liked them a lot. I was not stoked about Goodyear until I got mine. The premium tires with the high technology (Silent Armour, Triple Tread etc) features seem really good. In the old days Goodyears were just "eh, whatever" tires.


I know there's a difference in money but you're going to lose a touch of ride quality due to the 55 profile. I'd want to give up as little as possible and I suspect the GY would be quiet, smooth and provide good traction in all weather.

As far as the few who report short treadlife: I'd read at Tirerack and try to establish if that's the norm or those are exceptions. Next I would look at how many miles a year do I drive. If the tires run just shy of 50k and I drive 10-12k/year I could live with that. Buying tires every 36mos-5years is kinda normal anyways... You don't want tires that are much over 5years no matter what the tread looks like.

i agree with cj3flyer. i read some reviews on the coopers, which were all good, including low road noise. but i have friends who have the GYTT & have gotten 60k on them & love em still. plus i personally think they would look better on your vec than the coops. i think they would handle better on the road also. just my 2.

the tread pattern on the GY seems more road friendly, and I've heard the rubber compound on the Cooper's are softer therefore the tread life is normally shorter.

if you go off road(not on 20 rims), the more aggressive Cooper is probably better.

I like the looks of both. The LTZ would me my top pick for looks. I'm almost positive the TripleTred will handle and ride better.

If I would you I would go with the TripleTred. They aren't very far off in looks.

I really love the looks and reviews of the Cooper Zeon LTZ's and leaning towards them vs the Forteras... here is a comparison of prices between them 2 brands at discount tire website.

How come the LTZ in the bigger size are cheaper?...and another question .....that tire disposal fee that is included in the price... if I am keeping my stock tires they wont charge that fee...right????
