cornfed 1/2" vs. daystar 1-1/4"

I've been reading up on the leveling kits - the cornfed lift of 1" gives you a 1/2" spacer plate for that amount of lift, however the daystar 1-1/4" kit (top out spacer - above the top plate) gives you a full 1" plate for that amount of lift.

Are the cornfed leveling kits all below the plate and therefore give you double the amount of lift (compared to the actual thickness of the spacer)?

Am I missing something?

What DS kit are you referring to. I havent seen a DS 1.25" front kit for the 4th gen?

DS part # M03532 which is a top out spacer is just about 1" thick and provides double that in terms of lift.

And regarding the CF 1" kit, No I dont believe it is below the plate.

Apparently I'm not missing anything, all the dimension talk about cornfed has been in terms of lift amount, all the advertisment on the daystar website is mentioned in spacer thickness - which is half of the lift height . . .

I guess cornfed it is . . .

Thanks J.A. - I called Daystar earlier mentioned the part number, they've got their "1" kit" listed on their website - top out spacer is actually 1" thick and they claim it gives only 1" of lift.

I talked to JBurtman - the cornfeds are 1/2" thick top outs that give 1" of lift - which follows the theory you mentioned in the previous post and from most of the posts I've seen here.

I was confused by both another member and the daystar "tech. support" and website.

In any case, I ordered a 1" lift - leveling kit from JBurtman today. I do not want to instal a front only kit that gives 2" of lift.

And I've got a 1" thick Daystar front lift spacer (2" of lift) with all 6 bolts in my possesion for possible future use . . .

Daystar lift

I just put a Daystar lift on my 4Runner. The spacer was about 1.25 inches tall and gave exactly 2 inches of lift. I purchased it from wheelersoffroad.com and their site says it is a 1.25 inch spacer but the paperwork says a 1 inch spacer (part number KT09105).

After installing it I think it looks great. In my opinion anything less would still leave the vehicle "nose down" and somewhat defeat the purpose of lifting it.

One thing to consider is that my 4Runner is a 2WD so it was really "nose down" in the first place. I am not sure that 2 inches of lift would necessarily be appropriate on a 4WD model but it looks great on my 2WD.

In was really interested in a Daystar lift for a while , but their lack of knowledge ( or just wanting to blow me off ) sealed that deal. The guy I spoke to was a complete chithead to say the least . Did not know what he was talking about and I tried several times with them and was treated like crap everytime.

I thought both the CF and the Daystar were both top load spacers.

I still dont understand the difference in spacer lifts .

I personally like the 1" CF kit from what I've seen. A slight rake is good , if you totally level it , soon as you carry something or hook up a trailer , you look like the back is sagging.

I like the way the Daystar blends in. Since it is a black color and the studs are black you can hardly tell that it has been added. I can't say the same for the aluminum spacers. They seem to me to be fairly obvious and really seem to stick out. That is another reason I avoided the aluminum spacers.

I too have the Daystar and agree 100%. the 1.25 gave me almost exactly 2 inches of lift. I do think it is sometimes called 1inch and is the same thing.
It looks exactly level looking at it, but if you measure the back end is still .5 inches higher. No one knows that I lifted the front. I wouldn't want the front any lower.

Why do you think DS "goes by spacer thickness". The kit i have (KT09115BK) which is marketed as a 2.5" kit, measures only 1+1/2" thick but provided twice the amount of lift?

That can easily be rectified with a chemical.

The Dayatar is I'm sure they way to go , they have ben doing it forever. I've looked at JA's truck and it actually looks perfectly proportioned IMO.

I wish they made lifts to specs like CF. And I wish they knew what they were talking about when you call them . They told me write out NO lifts for 4Th gen's with Xreas , NO spacers , blah...... I think his name was Jeff. I was wanting to understand about different spacers and why theirs was a better choice for me ( perfect sales opportunity , I left them wide on ) Still treated me like chit .......

I would love to look at a Daystar and nCHF side by side , Just to learn and understand , this preload , top load , bottom , ect.... crap that make the comfort ride lift a step above.
