Cornfed finally ordered

Finally ordered the 2 inch front / 1 inch rear cornfed lift. (Burtman of course) I hope to have it in a couple of weeks. I will take pics of the install as well as before and after pics (on level ground).

Any helpful hints/thoughts/comments for the install will be appreciated!!!

Lets see hints/thoughts...

Get it up on a lift instead of floor jacks if possible.

Use Air Tools

Disconnect upper A-arm ball joint allowing it to swing up, which makes pulling the whole coilover assembly out and back in ALOT easier.

Read THIS WRITE UP.

Buy new cotter pins now before the install


Ummm, its been a while since I installed mine but I think thats a start.
 
Right now the tires are just the old of the lot dunflops. 265/65/17

Jason Burtman emailed me and told me it would be about three weeks before I get the kit. But I am ready for it now. I will put the pics on asap when it is all finished.

Email Jason back and tell him its life or death situation:D Just kidding.

I think I found someone to do the spacers pretty cheap with alignment . He said it would be real easy. Its a frame and axle shop.

Just got to get the lift without the wife knowing.

hahaha, yeah... I have been asking her for over a year if I could get one. She finally caved in. But we agreed that I would do all the work myself to save money.

My suggestion is just keep asking her and telling her why...
That you really need this to give your manliness a much needed boost, and that you are depressed and this would make you feel better...

That was my justification for my wife when I bought my motorcycle... hahaha

LOL .... I'll give it a try. The problems is I have a list of stuff I need. New drumheads more then anything right now and they be expensive , so I'm hittin her up for alot of stuff right now.
 
UPS is saying Thursday the 8th! Now I have started looking at tires. My eyes are hurting from searching and reading all the threads on tires from this forum... (love that search button!!!)

So 265/70R17 or 275/70R17... rubbing issues with the 275s and the 285s...
I have other things to worry with, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

yea! yea! me too! I have 265/70/17 BFG's and I get a slight rub on the drivers side at full turn..I would imagine a 2/1 lift would eliminate this...keep us up to date HiVel-JR!!
 
OK here it is out of the box!!! 2'' front 1'' rear

It should be on the 4runner by the end of the weekend.

After reading threads about the 3'' I decided to go with the 2" to be different I guess. I read on some of the threads that the 3" limits the suspension travel and "could" harm the diffs or joints or something like that...(Thai wrote a few threads on it). Plus I do not off road that much, maybe once a week and it is nothing serious, muddy, bumpy roads with your occasional deep as hell mud hole that I try to avoid. There are other reasons too.

In my opinion I think the 3'' looks funny with the stock wheels, even with the bigger wheels/tires it still looks a little funny to me. Don't take that the wrong way, That is just my opinion.
I plan on getting coil overs when my x-reas goes out, which might be sooner than I expect with the addition of this lift. hehehe who knows...

To sum it up, just to be different and try out a 2" lift. Whats the worst that could happen? I end up hating the 2" lift take it off and put a 3" on? Or take the lift off all together and buy coil overs.
 
I am working on it, give me a couple of days, my work life is confliting with my play life at the moment!!! sorry for the hold up...
