Do all spacer lifts whether Revtek, Daystar or Cornfed cause the rear to stiffen up? I guess it depends on how noticeable it is. Seems like a lot of people have done this mod, but not all report this problem.
I wonder if some spacers are more prone to stiffing up the rear than others.
I really want to do a lift, but don't want to change the ride characteristics. Maybe that's not possible?
Good Times said:in general all spacer lifts will have the same characteristics which tend to stiffen up over time. it all depends on the user's personal preference on what is truly stiff or not.
Good luck

I keep waiting for the "perfect" lift, but I just get the feeling it aint gonna happen. I'm gettin tired of waiting.
I don't have a problem trashing the Xreas and going with coil-overs, but it seems most just make them for the front-end and then you still have to figure out something for the rear.
*wishlist* said:this is one of my concerns regarding the spacer lifts. but i thought that since no one has really complained about it, that it shouldn't be much of a big deal. i understand that there are tradeoffs between certain setups. i find myself changing my mind almost daily about which to lift to buy because of some of these tradeoffs (mainly daystar/cornfed), which even to me is ridiculous because they are almost identical. i like the ride of the xreas-equipped 4runner and want to keep it while gaining some ground clearance, which i'll surely have no matter which lift i get (duhhh: ). alexjet or anyone else that can answer, does it really completely extend when you go over every little bump? if so, that plain sucks. i might just wait a bit longer to do my lift. i hope this idea of yours fixes the problem. otherwise, what else can i do but live with it.

How many miles on your 4Runner and how many miles with the lift?
I only have 13,500, about 3000 with the lift. I have no issues with how the rear feels.
I don't expect the stock system to last much past 70k with spacers (or even less). If you operate shocks/struts out of their designed range (higher or lower), they won't last as long.
00328 said:I would think that a mounting kit that would move the bottom mounting point of the rear shocks a little higher would solve the problem of having the rear shock almost fully extended.
That would give the shock more travel.
AlexJet said:It's possible, but will take a lot of effort and may be a challenge. I'm working on relocating the upper shock mount. It seems easiest way to fix it.
00328 said:\You would think that the lift manuf would realize this and offer a shock bracket of some sort to compensate for this. Probably very easy for them to fab something up and include it with the lift kit.
