Cornfed Tilt....Anyone Else?

I noticed today that my Runner is now tilted to the driver's side. Measuring the space between the tire and wheel-well, there is definately a difference...as much as 1" from driver's to passenger's side. Anyone else have this problem with spacer lifts? I'm not sure if this has slowly been occuring since the install or not.

Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you take measurements before installing the lift? My guess is that there was a difference side to side right from the factory (mine was 1/2" different). The spacer lift may or may not be exaggerating that, since it reused the same springs. The load distribution in the truck (including fuel) may also be playing a part.

wow, mine doesnt tilt at all...

i dont know if it would help, but have you had it aligned since you got the lift installed?

I did have it aligned right after the lift was installed. I didn't notice the tilt before, but it may have been there. It would surprise me though as everything else is stock and it has very low mileage (30,000) for a 2004 when I bought it new. There are also no other suspension modifications.

Most 4Runners don't measure the same from side to side, so chances are you just didn't notice that one side was higher than the other before the spacers were installed.

One thing you can check is that they your springs are seated properly on the strut. There's a small ledge that the end of the spring should be seated. If it's not seated properly, you'll get some extra lift as the end of the spring isn't in the proper location.

That's depressing. I really didn't notice any listing to the left side before. The springs are definately seated correctly. Guess I'll take it back to the shop that did the install and see if they have any ideas.

My stock runner tilts one way too. But, I live in Baltimore and I consider it 4runner's gansta crip walk stylez. Word to yo motha.

I remember someone on this forum saying that all the 4runner tilts and that with the lift its even more noticeable. Hell, its noticeable now with the stock set-up.
Wonder if Donahoe set-up will remedy this problem.....

I still love my ret(a)rded stanced runner more than anycar.

Mine tilts to the driver's side by 1/2" both front and back. I haven't really noticed until I actually measured it. I wonder if the Cornfed lift exacerbated it. I'll let you know what my tilt is after the lift.

I really can't be sure because I neglected to measure it right after the install. But it is definately apparent now. I'll post a pic shortly and you can really see it.

Did you make sure the springs are seated properly? You can't tell unless you really get in there and look at the exact positioning of the end of the bottom coil. If it doesn't sit correctly in its indentation, you'll have more lift on that spring.

cornfed lift

I'm looking into purchasing the Cornfed 2/1 lift but was concerned when I read your post regarding the "tilt." Were you able to figure out why this was happening and if so, how did you remedy the problem?

I don't believe the issue is caused by the lift. I had to replace the right-front tire with the spare which had never been used and this raised that side up a bit. I'm pretty sure that did it.

FWIW my runner also sits about 1/2 inch lower on the drivers side (no lift). I've noticed it since new and never really bothered me. 1" difference is a bit extreme though.
