cost of suspension install

thanks - the crew im dealing with now will treat me well and started at 580 so hopefully it goes well. i feel a bit better after realizing that i got my truck maybe 4 mos ago and it has pretty fresh KYB replacements in there already (drives awesome and lifts truck front end level for those looking for another leveling option,) but it didnt dawn on me that the shop wont be replacing 138k mile suspension, perhaps just 20k or 40k worth...ill still use some PB anyway over the next few weeks.

can anyone tell me if any bolt that might be seized, a typical shop would carry or be able to get while im gone for 5 days in the keys?

The bolt that goes thru the lower shock eye and into the LCA. Mine seized in the bushing. Took hours to cut out.

thanks for the info - hopefully that doesnt happen to mine and if it does they have a replacement bolt for the new shocks.

excited to have this scheduled though - getting the lift, rims and tire upgrade, sliders, and rear tire carrier pretty much all at once.

If youre pretty confident mechanically

you may consider having some assemble the struts for you and do the R & R yourself. Or rent yourself a spring compressor and DIY..

The rears even i can do but i did save some time and money just having mine assembled and not installed by someone else. :llama:

Anyone have suspension/lift installed in the Dallas/North Dallas area have any recommendations and costs? The stealership quoted me $1,700, another shop never responded to my inquiry and a mobile mechanic quoted almost $900. I initially wanted to do it myself but don't have the tools nor the time.

Cant help for your area, but this may help for reference. I was quoted $800 to remove xreas suspension and install my icon stage 2 kit here in Houston

Tandem Automotive in Haltom City--they specialize in Toyota trucks

They quoted me $450 for a suspension install including an alignment--was gonna take it to them before I just decided to do it myself. However, I did just have them replace the power steering pump and CV's about 2 weeks ago. Nice group of guys who know their stuff.

Thanks. I'll try and give them a call tomorrow.

hey all - i have an appointment with longtime mechanic i knew in HS and was told for them to install my 5100s and OME springs (new kyb top hats too) that would be in the $800 range...does this seem fair assuming it goes smooth without running into any hardware issues?

too bad i didnt have the time or second vehicle to do this with my buddy Jay like we did with my wrx. the shop im going to lifted my old tj jeep but i dont remember many details from it.

thanks,
tom

If thats just labour alone, that is crazy steep. Im in Canada and went to a shop got charged $400 canadian for bilstein 5100+fj coils

I would think about 400 is the most I would be willing to pay for a lift install. It really should only take 5 hours unless something goes wrong of course.

Peeps need to learn how to wrench them selves...You could buy all the tools and then some for $1000... :gun4:
