Cost of Toyota OEM parts

Historically, one of the big downsides of owning a European vehicle such as a Mercedes, Porsche, or Volvo was that the cost of OEM parts such as a water pump or alternator was three times or more the cost of a comparable GM or Ford part.
My question is, how do the price of Toyota OEM parts compare with those of American and European vehicle parts?

I think Toyota OEM part prices are fairly reasonable. A lot of the parts are interchangeable with many Toyota products, especially engine parts, so there is some savings based on large manufacturing quantities.

I'll never buy another Mitsubishi because of this reason. Mitsubishi makes great products... I had two of them. But their parts prices are insane - 2x or even 3x other brands. I would imagine it's because of the relatively low volume of Mitsubishi products sold in the U.S.

The parts are priced fairly high compared to American vehicles. But at they seem to be built better.

I replaced a bad relay. It was one in the fuse panel in the engine bay for the HVAC controls. $ 55 for this tiny thing. It certainly was the most expensive relay that I have never bought. I bought the same type of relay for my Jeep for $11.

A fuel pump for the runner is listed at over $ 500 for the v8 engine on rockauto. Yikes!

In my experience Toyota parts have been cheaper than Nissan, Mazda and Chevy.

Toyota OEM brake pads are $42 at my dealer. Chevy brake pads were $80 and this is with a discount from my buddy at a tireshop for his cost. Toyota OEM filters are $4 at my dealer, aftermarket filters are $5 or so.

I'm undecided on Toyota OEM parts. I've gotten some cheap and some expensive. In high school I had a Subaru and needed an EGR valve. I couldn't find one anywhere but the dealer and it was $379 (1999). I thought that was outrageous. Subarus are great vehicles and very reliable but I won't ever purchase another one unless I was sure parts came down some.

Those prices are pretty good, except for the skid plate, IMO. It seems pretty flimsy. I removed mine last weekend and thought the back part of the front plate being plastic was a little cheap looking/feeling. Great price on the valor tip, though.

It wouldn't handle anything worth while , I think it might help to deflect brush , sticks ect... from entering the lower rad. area, Mostly a cosmetic mod. though.

Mine has no plastic on it at all , the plate and brackets are all metal.
