Cost to replace a belt on 5th gen

What have people paid to replace the belt? Unfortunately, I don't trust the service department at the dealer near my job. Every time I go in for an oil change, they want to do loads of work on my car.

Guy says the belt is 'glazed'. Car has 90k miles on it. Northern NJ, wants $302 for the work. Feels excessive. There is no squealing or other noise coming from the engine bay.

Front left caliper is seized up, I did go out to the shop floor and saw how the wheel was not turning (the right wheel turned just fine). Luckily my extended warranty is covering the caliper.

IRRC this job took me like 20 minutes to do. Gates belt at rockauto.com will cost you $16 plus shipping.

I've changed plenty of serp belts before..never on a Toyota, but I'd have to imagine it would be a fairly straightforward job for any doityourselfer..bet there are plenty of youtubes on how to do it.

7pk2150 should be written on the belt currently on the truck.

Turn the tensioner, throw a allen wrench or screwdriver in the hole so the belt stays slacked. Remove and replace in the correct orientation

Videos of the 4R belt replacement make it look *really* easy. I looked at videos of my wife's Odyssey replacement and I'd rather study organic chemistry again than attempt this.

TL;DR find a reputable mechanic in town to get it done for you; belt only should be really cheap ($250 or less?) but most mechanics will want to take the time to replace all of the belt-driven pumps as well, which on this looks like just the water pump.

Before you put the new belt on, check that all the idler pulleys turn freely. You should also be able to turn the alternator, power steering pump and A/C pulleys by hand with a little or no resistance.

$302 to replace the serpentine belt is way excessive. It's a relatively easy job you can do yourself. An extra set of hands can be nice, to help with the belt or tensioner, but overall its an easy replacement.

I just did mine with a Toyota OEM belt and it was $75 i think. I used a random door hinge pin I found in the garage (which conveniently was exactly 6mm) to stick in the tensioner. Took me 5 mins.

What part of North Jersey you in? If its not to far for you try Bob's Tires & Wheels :: Hawthorne NJ Tires & Auto Repair Shop, their hourly rate is under $100 and i can attest to the quality of the work. Buy the belt from amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Bando-7PK2150...4439642&sr=8-1) like pDubs suggested.

I posted a few pics and notes. It’s a 1/2 hour job max. You don’t need to buy the Part from Toyota when you can get the OEM on Amazon.

One of their service managers is a goddamn lying snake. had some work done there and they lost my original rotor and then mysteriously found it... saying it was damaged. Mofos took an angle grinder to a rotor from another repair. will never go there again so long as that ass clown is still working there.

anyway, do it yourself, save time, save money and punch another hole in your man card.

Amazon is showing that Bando 7PK2145 fits my 2013 and not the 7PK2150. One is 2145mm long and the other 2150mm.

Belt is "glazed"? Nice description. At 90k on the OD, I would probably replace it just for that reason, but not at that price. $302 is ridiculous! - it can be replaced for less than $25

Yes, same thing happened for me.

I actually went out to the truck and looked at the letters printed on the belt currently installed (which I knew was the original) 7PK2150 was written on it. It was hard to find the letters as they needed to line up perfectly with a spot to view.

I purchased the one from Amazon I linked above and it was same size and fit.

There’s a couple threads on the size discrepancy. In the thread I posted just above there are pics of my belt replacement before and after to show the position of the tensioner. My 2150mm belt has been on for a year with no issues. My original was not a Bando. I’m wondering if they made a change very early in production.
I also tried to do the math on the difference.

I don’t know if the math is the same since it’s obviously not a pure circle. But the difference in diameter of a 2145 vs. a 2150 belt is 682.78mm vs 684.37mm. Which equals 1.59mm. I might change my mind while I’m installing it but that doesn’t seem like much.
