I have a SAS in my 2000 runner. It's an 80 series LC axle. I'm hearing some loud clicking on the right side. Started during the winter when I was in 4X4, (I have manual locking hubs) turning corners. Now the clicking is constant. I originally thought my birfs needed replacing but I get the clicking when the hubs are unlocked and it goes away when the clutch is engaged.
The SAS was done by the original owner who was a yota technician. The steering and front end have always been great. I have put over 30K miles on this truck since I have had it and driven across the country with no issues until this past winter.
Would love to hear some insights before I pull the trigger on new axles.
