COULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN this to me about my 2005 T4R . . .

Okay, I have a 2005, v-6 4x4.

In 2WD, when turning left, I've spun the inside wheel on wet or slick surfaces. Engine powered down, ABS did its thing. This almost killed me and my passenger in the intersection.

So I posted, someone said put in 4x4, it will not do that.

Well, today in Denver, we have about 16 inches of snow on the ground and about 8-10 more on the way. I thought "COOL", chance to get this T4R in the snow and feel it out.

I was leaving my neighborhood, in 4-Hi. I stepped on it and the vehicle powered down, and the ABS did its thing. Thank GOD there was no traffic. So now to my question,

WHAT THE HELL! In the wrong conditions, I'm going to get T-Boned w/ this damn thing while its doing its "cutsie" BS with my engine power and ABS to slow my progress through an intersection.

Is there anyway to shut off the engine power-down? Any input appreciated.

That is VSC killing power to the slipping wheel to maintain tranction. The only way to turn that off is to lock the center differential. Locking the diff should not be done on dry pavement as this will cause binding..

Yeah it prevents you from slipping out of control. I don't think its a bad thing, on road in bad weather it helps. I always try and go slow in the snow, if I encounter any.

Hint: Dont pull out in front of traffic!

As was just said, it is designed to help prevent slipping or sliding out of control and it does work well, but if you dont expect it to happen it can give you a fright. Lots of vehicles have this function and many can have it manually turned off.

And it definately is a pain in the rear when you just want to have some fun!;):

There was absolutely no dry pavement in Denver all day long. ;):

If you were driving around with your center diff locked, you would be driving on snow and only snow (and ice).

I was in my Toy 4 x 4 pickup in 4Hi and it was not enough to get me through the deep snow in places.

I moved the lever to 4Lo and the traction and torque were fine for getting me through the tough spots.

There's a ton of deep snow here iand I can't even open up my front door with a huge drift blocking it.

I had to open the garage door to get outside.

I use the center lock a lot. If the roads are covered it locked , if I'm driving high speeds in snow I unlock the center diff. and let the car do its thing electronically.

I think this is the best and worst feature of the 4R. Sometimes you need throttle to get you out of jams , just like you need brakes to do the same thing.

The only thing you should hear when in locked is the ATRAC kicking in and out , all the other VSC ect... become non-functial. Its fine to use on snow covered roads.
