Couple Killed during 4Runner Carjacking

A 23 yr. old male and his 21 yr. old girlfriend were carjacked in Knoxville, TN while driving her 2005 Toyota 4Runner. The two were both college students and had been dating for several months. Both of them were reported missing by their families when they failed to return home. The male's body was found near some railroad tracks, wrapped in a blanket and set on fire. The female's body was found a day later stuffed in a trash can inside an abandoned house. She had been raped and tortured. Details of the carjacking are still under investigation, and four suspects are now in custody. Initial reports say it started as a simple carjacking but something went terribly wrong.

Just another reason to make sure you use the automatic door locking feature on your vehicle, which would at least keep a person from opening the door and jumping in. We love keeping our trucks looking good, but sometimes the attention it gets could be dangerous.

Plus one. I say (assuming they're found guilty) they should all be tied up to the rear bumper and let the victims families take turns testing out the towing capacity of the 4Runner at highway speeds.

We do have a death penalty, but it hasn't been used in many years. A lot of details still haven't been released about these killings, but this carjacking really sounds especially heinous. If only they had driven off when approached, (assuming they weren't blocked in traffic. ) Or if they had just had a nice handy pistol in the glove compartment, it certainly could have been a different outcome? TN has a good handgun permit law where anyone over 21 with no criminal record can take an 8 hour class, qualify on the range, and get a handgun carry permit. <-my preferred option for terminating a carjacking attempt>

I really wished our justice system was more like this. But instead we have to go through years of trial and appeals and then finally after 36 to 48 people have decided the party is guilty, the guilty party then sits in prison for anywhere between 20-30 years and then they finally decide to execute the worthless POS meanwhile the whole 20-30 years they're eating, receiving medical services and getting a college education... off of our tax dollars...... Then the guilty complain that lethal injection is not humane enough. WTF!!!!! We put your ass to sleep and then kill your worthless ass off and it's not humane enough give me a break

Every state should have a law like this. In a country that calls itself 'the land of the free', every responsible citizen should have the legal option to defend himself. You ain't free if you have to live in fear of criminals or the police.

That is a horrible story. I am another advocate for GatorGreg justice! It would definitely cost a lot less money because we wouldn't have to go through all of the formalities before enforcing the death penalty.

I'm against the death penalty as far as the government doing it. I don't trust the government that much. I'm all for it as far as an individual defending himself.

Anyone tries to harm me or my loved ones will get some .45 caliber justice from me.

Id love to see someone approach my 4runner with blacked out windows, dont knock on a door that you dont know whats on the other side of. All i have to do is park where no one sees me getting out, and no one has any idea who drives my truck, #1 mod at this moment is my tint. It also takes road rage down to 0, people get mad and then realize they cant see whose driving and kind of calm down, thats nice too.

Programming the Locks

I have attempted to change the behavior of the automatic door locks according to the instructions in the manual for my 2003 Limited. The doors lock when you take it out of park, but I want them to unlock when the driver's door is opened (from the inside). The manual gives instructions for this, and I followed them carefully, but it doesn't work.

PS. Steve_MS, you are not alone. It is easy to come up with simplistic solutions that treat the symptoms of our society's problems, but much more difficult to diagnose and treat the underlying causes.
