Cracked axle and new Actuator- 064runner

I replaced my front axle 2 months ago-
While in the woods, engaged 4wd and heard my truck scream. Wouldn't drive, only reverse. Got out of woods in reverse and had it towed to dealer where I get all work done. I was told the axle cracked at the CV joint as they received the wrong part when I had it done. It didn't show until 4wd engaged and cracked it. Now I'm going to have to replace my either my transfer case or my actuator, not sure yet. Is there any way the axle caused this chain reaction? New on here, but thought I'd get some opinions. Thanks in advance.

You mean they will have to replace the transfer case or actuator. The actuator will be much cheaper. I think a broken CVJ/Axle could damage other parts if it got jammed up and power was sent to it. I've never heard of it happening however. And I've read lots of threads about broken axles/CVJ's.
