***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

No problem 04Limited! Glad that my mention could help. I just happened to see you replaced your's and wanted you to know in case you hadn't heard. Would you let me know how the leatherseats.com works out? I have a huge rip in my seat that's really bugging me. That's next on the list, much like you, mine has to last a few more years! I've just started a new job and trying to save up a down payment for a new house.

gaterose, there isn't a mileage restriction. Not sure on the owner restriction from what they told me today. As long as your VIN matches, you should be good. I am the second owner with 207K miles, and they said I wouldn't be a problem. Then again their DB has me in it for years, so maybe that gave them all they needed to know. A lot of dealers don't even know about it yet. Slowly but surely, the dealerships will get the info trickled down to them.

It was truly a team effort! Great work everyone!

So are they replacing the dash only due to cracks caused by sun damage or any cracks in the dash? My dash has some cracks in it, but I highly doubt its from sun damage, looks like someone tried to steal the headunit before I got the truck. Do you guys think it would be worth calling Toyota and seeing what they will do about it?

I was in this cracked dash mess with you guys. But I just traded in my 2004 SR5 for a 2013 SR5. I was going to sell my 04 I think I could have gotten more money that way. But with the cracked dash and the check engine light. I thought it would be easier to trade it.

Anyway, I am happy we all called Toyota about this issue. I don't think we are the sole reason Toyota is replacing these dashes. I think that is half the reason and the other half is the Airbag issue Toyota AND other Auto makers are having and I am sure someone brought up the point. What if one of the cracked dash pieces puts out someones eye or a piece of the dash flies out when an airbag goes off and kills someone.

I'm happy they are replacing them. I will continue to watch this thread but will monitor the 5th gen forum more.

It is for the dash pads cracking on their own. If you have any cracking in places where they are away from the radio i am sure it would be covered.

I was always concerned about the dash splintering if the airbags deployed. When all the airbag stuff came up i wondered if it would prompt them to do something. I know we weren't the reason they are replacing them but i am 100% sure we helped.

Same here, just called and spoke with them and they said I am covered. Great news indeed. Of course she mentioned something about my 4Runner is also covered under the BST Limited Service Campaign. So now I get to take my 4Runner in to the dealership to get whatever that is fixed too.

Lots of good news today.

Just got off the phone with Toyota, they're calling it the ZE6 Customer Support Program and told me to call or go to my nearest dealer and mention that program. They also confirmed that my VIN was covered.

Called my local dealership and they were leery at first but he looked up ZE6 and I could hear him mumbling the details. They're definitely going to cover it but want me to bring it in and let them have 1-2 hours with the 4R to see what kind of time estimate they can give since they've never done this before.

Just posting this so I can access it quickly, my case number is 1501072341.

edit- I also heard in his mumbling that there is no mileage limitation, but he did ask how long I'd owned the 4r so there may be an ownership duration requirement.

Go to pages 10 and 11 of this thread - you can see how I did it. Tell them to look in their factory service manual and their time estimator - it's all in there. I can see it in the same books I purchased. That is a beast of a job but it's just a bunch of easy steps. Even the airbag parts are simple, albeit fear-inducing.... Good luck.

yes, will take pix of leather seat project and post somewhere. will give you a shoutout in the post so you can find it. that's probably in the next 1-2 months. I need to post my timing belt and XREAS shock replacement pix somewhere also. Both very straightforward jobs.

Just called in myself and was able to get a case#1501082705. User said my latest cover date is May 31st of 2017. Unfortunately if I miss this day the second cover date would be just last year (10 years from the purchase date, which for my car was 2004, and would have been 2014.) He confirmed the parts would be available in May 2015, but said not to really hesitate to see if they may have the parts right now. Super excited, I remember when I first got it I was saddened because A) I didn't cause the problem, and B) Even though it was there I got a real good deal on it, so I couldn't really complain... but now I don't have to worry or be saddened anymore!!!

Just called mine in (case #1501082696) and received the same information.
They asked me about the mileage and I told them 189K, didn't seem to be a problem at all.

Now I was wondering whether the evaporator could be done at the same time? Any idea how much to expect to pay on top?

I am going to pick up all the information from the place where i had mine replaced so i will be able to give you an idea of the cost to replace the evaporator.

2006 SR5

Mine is not cracked but it is peeling up at the "cluster hump" towards the windshield. Too tight for me to get to it.

I will call ASAP.

Thanks

I just called the 800 number, verified that my VIN is on the approved list and was issued a case#. My neighbor down the street, has a Toyota Sienna mini van with a severely cracked dash and also qualifies for replacement. I think Toyota is being somewhat comprehensive about this, not just with 4Runners. I'm pretty damned happy about this as I was contemplating replacing this (on my own dime) two months ago. I'm glad I waited. It has convinced me that my next vehicle (whenever that will be), will indeed by another Toyota.

Called the 800 # on the first post, gave them my VIN and I'm on the list. Should receive my notification mid May. All I'll have to do is take my notification and truck down to the dealership and I should be good to go.

Awesome!
Thanks!

Has anyone received a "Warranty Enhancement Notification"?

I received one yesterday, it listed quite a few other models besides 03-05 4Runners. I did not call or email Toyota about my dash since I don't have any problems.

I have an '04 4Runner with a severely cracked dash. I called the 1800 number and was told my VIN wasn't included in the Customer Support Program (CSP): ZE6.

Keep tryin', folks.

I am not sure how to go about it but i would dispute that. I would call back and ask to speak to a manager or somebody else.

From my post above here's the "letter" I received.

That is strange. I just sold my 04 SR5. But I have called twice about it and it was included in the warranty. I wonder if they take into account where you live. My 4runner "lived" in Florida, Alabama and Louisiana.
