***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

Called both Steven Toyota in Harrisonburg and Charles Barker Toyota in Virginia Beach and told them about the TSB and the dealer part numbers that blackworks provided. Steven toyota's parts guy looked up the numbers for me and showed me that they still weren't avaliable from Toyota, and Charles Barker said the same thing, even though there are part numbers Toyota doesn't have any dashes for them to order and that part number is not yet "active." Anyone else experience this?

It's the same on the Lexus side of things... I guess it covers a lot of Lexus cars, GS, IS, LS, GX... Anyhow when I talked to the Lexus dealer a couple weeks ago(my GX is on the wait list and preapproved for the replacement) they said they are starting this out by trying to track down everyone who already did the work and paid out of pocket for the parts and labor etc. But that is proving far more difficult than first thought (well duh) and so its taking longer than expected. But once that is straitened out the service campaign should begin and the doors will be opened for the rest of us to get it fixed.

Interesting. My wife called a few weeks ago and made an appointment at a Kansas City dealer. She went in, they said, "Yep." Put the dash on order and called a week later to say it was in and made the installation appointment. They installed it two weeks ago.

Strange to hear the differences in dealers, but still very thankful for this thread.

Personally I would double check the part number to make sure that its the new one.

I understand what you're saying, but at this point, and being that I'm in Afghanistan right now, I'm not going to worry about it.

The truck is eleven years old and it took almost that much time for the old dash to crack. And just because there's a new part number, that doesn't ensure any better quality or that the dash will last longer than the original or it's replacement (assuming the replacement isn't the new part).

Right now, we've got a brand spanking new dash replaced under warranty and that's good enough for me at this point. And even if it isn't the new part, I don't think there's a chance in Hades that Toyota is going to replace it for free again.

I agree completely had my new dash in 2 months ago I think most dealerships are giving a run around, and honestly if it's a direct replacement I could care less it's an 05 with 160k never thought I would get a new dash at all so I'm very happy

I scheduled an appointment last week, I'm here today, confirmed it was under the recall, parts are ordered.

So has anyone in Texas successfully had theirs replaced yet, or even just the parts "ordered" for them? Is this a regional fix somehow right now?

I got the same story in Dallas other gulf states folks are getting.

Basically "yeah it's cracked, come back when you have a letter."

I find it very plausible that gulf states has been asked to hold off due to supply. They are a pretty large chunk of the Toyota business in the US.

Took mine in for the inspection today. They said that it will qualify, but that the dashboards for the 4runner are not available to order yet. Western NC.

Called Toyota of Merrillville, I've been approved for a replacement. Just waiting on parts, they're behind schedule apparently.

So much for second letter they promised in May! Original owner. I'm in NW FL - cracking didn't start til I left VA and lived in FL for 9 months. Now the dark grey coating is flaking off either side of the cracks. With only 80k miles everything else looks fine except the dash. (Did have seizing issues with all the brake calipers, SE wheels are badly corroded and the skid plate rusted out.)

I called back in March, they agreed I qualified, gave me a claim number and told me a letter would be coming , they intimated May/June time frame. I called Toyota (Cali HQ) and they said letter still had not been sent out but as long as I had my claim # I was good. They suggested they were backed up and they tried to talk me to go back to my dealer for routine Svc rather than local mechanic. Starting to worry that this is a load of BS.

I called two places here in Oklahoma City today and got the same story. When I called I said that I received a letter for CSP - ZE6 and was wondering when I could bring the 4runner in to have this done. They knew exactly what I was referring to. They both immediately answered with the parts were still unavailable.....

Just got new dash

Didn't know if my dash would qualify - quarter size piece of the dash chipped off on driver's side above instrument cluster, small but noticeable cracks above the instrument cluster, even smaller cracks on dash covering the airbag on the passenger side.

I never received any letter(s) from Toyota. Took someone's suggestion from this thread and took it in. I was right there when they looked at it. I pointed out all the cracks and emphasized that I was concerned about the cracks by the airbag.

She said they would order the new dash and have it in 2-3 weeks. Also said this was probably only the 3rd one to have it done at the dealership that she was aware of.

Just got it put in today! Looks awesome!

Thanks for this thread, thanks to Toyota for standing behind their product, and thanks to Midwest Toyota for putting it in!

Congrats on being successful! Similar story here in Albuquerque...

They said I qualified, did a quick inspection (which seemed to be a formality - not sure exactly what they were looking for) of my cracks above steering wheel, and said they would order the part. First one they had heard of though, so they had no idea how long it would take. Hopefully the 2-3 weeks works out for me as well...

Has anyone that's had their dash replaced confirmed they're getting the new style dash? Maybe I'm missing something but has anyone gotten the new part # yet?

they took pictures and sent to toyota to get approved.i went to dealership here in CA and they ordered the parts for me.they have no idea when the parts will be here as they havnt done any 4runners yet
