***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

So we just got our 1st 4Runner in also (mine should have been first, but Toyota lost/accidentally cancelled my order... don't even get me started with how frustrated I am about THAT,) and I have to admit I'm a little underwhelmed.

The one we got was a bit wavy on the faux leather top (customer said they're happy with it, though I am unsure how I feel if it went on my rig,) the other thing I noticed is that it's really bare bones compared to the Camry an Avalon units we've been doing. Did you have to transfer over all the captive nuts on your unit as well? Seems like the Camry & Avalon units came with all the hardware on them.

All in all it's been good though.

200 dashboards on backorder in the Chicagoland region. I'm #8 in line at my dealership. Who knows when the dashboards will come in. :sobbing:

Captive nuts, guide posts, and a couple extra brackets. Quality seems good to me, all of the 4Runner ones have been coming from Japan FWIW.

Although I did not suffer the cracked dash, I am concerned about it.

Finally, it's about time Toyota owned up to this. This has been going on for years!

Boulder Toyota (Larry H. Miller) FTW

I (like many of you) never received the second letter, so I dropped by my local dealer. They took a quick look and ordered the dash. It took a few weeks, but on Friday they called to schedule the work. I go in on Tuesday. I'll post before and after pics later this week.

Thank you to the Forum for making this happen!

time to go by

have to stop by the dreaded high cost, always something wrong dealer I guess to get the change out underway. Glad to hear Toyota finally woke up.

Before and After Pics:

I wasn't in the habit of giving the dash a good feel, but from what i can tell the "bumps" on the old dash match the new one, and the color is correct.

I just had mine replaced this week under the Toyota recall notice. If your VIN is not in the range they claim, I would haggle with them and show them that you are having the same issue. Likely they will comply and have it replaced under the recall. Took about 3 weeks for the part to show up at the dealer. Left the car for one day for replacement. Looks good.

I was at my local dealership a few weeks ago, and they tell me they don't have any of the parts yet. Is that what most are experiencing now? Would like to know if it's just my dealership.

^

They did that to me too - I went in January and they inspected it then told me the parts would be available soon and to wait for the call.

I asked the service manager about it a couple of days ago and he said to bring it by - I did yesterday and he got with the parts dept. manager and said they just came out with a parts list so they took a picture of the dash and ordered the parts. Should be done within 2 weeks they told me.

I think you just have to keep bugging them or talk to the right person.

my dash is cracked too. Can I just take it to the dealer and get it inspected/replaced? Or do I have to file a claim first?
