***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

Finally got my '04 Sport T4R dash replaced over the weekend. Looks good as new again at 135k miles.


^^^ to the guy above -- I don't believe I saw anything online. Just heard in a letter from Toyota.

I just bought a 2004 V8 Limited this weekend that has a cracked dash. I checked the toyotaowners site and it doesn't list anything about the extra warranty, only a thing about messing with the throttle and brakes at the same time which doesn't seem like something I want done. Should this show up there? I'm going to stop by the dealer in the next few days anyhow, was just checking if anyone sees this on the toyota owners site.

Take it to dealer. If you aren't listed as the owner with Toyota you won't get owner notices

Took the 2003 by the local dealership and they said they would order a replacement. At the time, the service guy said it could take a while to receive a replacement. Got an email today saying I was 10th in line at this dealership for a replacement dash. Does that strike you guys as reasonable? How long is the normal wait time?

It seems to be hit or miss. Some people have said months, I got mine in less than 1.

Just got back from the dealer, dash ordered no BS from them about it at all.

I was warned it can take a good wile before it arrives but since it is free, I can wait and wont complain at all.

Can't speak for T4, but an RX350 in tan is running about 6 months or more.

My local dealer told me 3-4 months. Like mentioned by someone before, I'm not paying for it so I'm willing to wait a bit. Shoot, have waited years before Toyota agreed to replace the darn things.

SUCCESS : went to local dealer for a repair and asked about the DASh issue. Without any hesitation, the service worker said I'd get one. Will take about 9 weeks she said and they'd replace it for free. THAT is great ! She used the word "expansion" recall. I got terrific service and they updated my computer and fixed a recall I'd forgotten about concerning the floor mat in front, driver area. WOW, IF I hadn't come here a few years ago, I would not have known others had similar problem. I love my 4 runner, this will help. OH, I have some "unusual "noises under the dash, wonder if this will help. We'll see - good luck and don't give up!! I am in Florida.

We have a 2003 with about 90k miles and it has a nasty crack right by the gauge cluster. I just called and got a case # and will be bringing the truck to the dealer at the end of this month!

Just got off the phone with Toyota. She said they didn't have an estimate on when my dealer would have a replacement for me.

I've been on the list since Sept. When I was there in Dec the service advisor put in a ticket for it but then said they didn't have stock.

Texas Toyota in Grapevine replaced my dash last week. It took about 8 weeks for the dash to arrive.

It took about a 1.5 years from when I received the notice from Toyota, and 10 weeks from when I went to the dealer to get them to approve it.

NOTE: Check out your car completely when you get it back. Apparently my tech was in a bit of a hurry and scratched the lower dash and the trim surrounding my console and now I have to wait for replacements for those.
