***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

They base it on the VIN number so you should be fine. I would just call the number from the first post and/or talk to the Service Manager at your local Toyota dealership.

As far as I know it was the earlier years of the 4th gen. Unless you have cracking already they will not start the claim. I am pretty sure yours is fine.
Great thanks

Took my 2003 into the dealership today regarding my cracked dash. Said they are on back order and two other vehicles have been waiting over 3 months. Any suggestions on how to speed things up?

Bump. I'm in the bay as well. Love to see what you find out.

I've already been "transfered" to other service reps so being given the run around I'm still researching and asking around for recommended dealerships. As for now the Crack has slightly grown due so I might patch it or fill it in for now.

Just took mine to the local dealer and had new dash ordered. They didn't even look at it for cracks, just ordered it. Mine wasn't that bad at all yet but I figured I'd take advantage of this now while they're still doing it.

They don't care where you got the truck from. I got mine from Craigslist and it's had 5 owners. They make pretty good money switching them so they want to do it.

Now that I think about it, hopefully they ordered the right one. Are there only two types, the one with the JBL center speaker and the one without? Or are there slightly different colors too? I'm hoping the new one looks as dark jet black as my current one.

I suppose you made your appointment through the service center?

Is there some sort of claim number I can use to bring this up? What did you say to the service rep for them to order a new dash?

I didnt make an appointment I literally just pulled into the service center check-in line and when they asked what I needed I said I'm here to have a new dash ordered because of the recall. Just be nice about it; it is a common problem on on multiple different vehicles from these years, so the service guys should know what to do. They should take down your vehicle information and contact info and send you on your way. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes assuming there no line. It's a long wait for the dash to be delivered though, I'm prepared to wait a year or so for mine, but I'm not concerned because my dash looks pretty good still.

I'll be taking my parent's 04 Sienna in sometime soon, it's dash is cracking terribly and is covered in the same recall.

Just got our 08 a couple weeks ago, and I'm wondering if I should call in and try to have them replace our dash..

It's not cracked, but what if they stop replacing them, and the opportunity to do this expires?

Should I give them a reason to have to replace it?

Are you sure that 08 has a dash problem though....? Might not need it / be covered by the recall.

When I went in to get mine, I figured I'd get a free multipoint inspection while I was there since they weren't very busy. Ended up seeing this sweet built silver V8, parked out where the dent removal crew was working. Apparently the parts manager owns it. It had an ARB locker, winch bumper, full Icon suspension, sliders, etc. Made conversation with the dent guy about 4runners and he actually said he'd pull the dent out of the side of mine while I was waiting. So I ended up getting my annoying dent pulled out for free :trophy: oh and got the free coffee of course lol. Stealership isn't so bad..

Yeah, I made a few of the parts guys friends once I realized they were wanting to build some ARs... One of the counter guys have me a direct line, and his email so now whenever I have a question or need to order a part, it happens pretty quick..

That is Phil's 4Runner STRAP22 he started the TRDParts4U in texas and just recently took over in SC.

Hey that's mine....you should have stopped in Parts.

Nice! I was admiring it for quite a while while waiting. I figured it belonged to someone on here. I snapped a ton of pictures haha it's essentially everything that I wish mine was. Noticed the Uwharrie pass too, but the thing was so sparkly clean I doubted it had ever been offroad! The guy working on dents who drove the stock white '14 told me you wheeled it a lot though. (If you know who that guy is tell him he's awesome, my truck looks a lot better without that dent, it was super nice of him to do that for me.)

Need some tips on how to clean it as well as you I guess. My underside is nasty.

Well, finally got the phone call stating mine was ready and got an appointment setup. While on the phone, I asked about getting the evap replaced since the dash was already being pulled...still quoted me like $1100. Does that seem correct??? Seems like they are still pricing me a lot of labor

I'm at the dealer now and want to know the same thin. I'll ask.

I called another dealer and they quoted me around the same price. They noted that there is a lot more involved than just removing dashboard. Price for part was around 350. But parts and labor was around 1100

My adviser forgot to quote it, but he said he's gather the info and call me later. But bummer, that sure is pricey. I'm not sure what to do about the evap. At least you know now that it may be all that too crazy out of line (for a dealer)

My guy called back today. Said doing the evap at the same time as the dash replacement would save 2 hours labor. Evap replacement was 1350 while doing the dash or 1600 without. Ouch.

New member and first time 4 Runner owner.

I want to thank momo.75 for starting this topic and also thank all who have responded and acted/contacted Toyota on this issue to get Toyota to make the right decision to fix this issue!!:thanks::hail:

I bought a 2004 4 Runner Limited with the V8 about a month ago, I have never owned one before but after a lot of research for a good second vehicle I decided on a used 4 Runner or a Tacoma, I have been looking for a good deal for the last 2 years and found this one for around $1500 less than KBB.

I'm extremely happy to find out about the extented warranty on the dash pads, mine looks like a road map, I would have never guessed that I could get Toyota to replace it! :dancin:

Not knowing about the extended warranty I have been trying to find a decent close to OEM aftermarket dash pad or a good used one but no luck, I wasn't even going to think about ordering one from a dealer because of how much it would cost, but I also figured that I would find that it's no longer available for my 2003.

This is like an early Christmas present even if I have to wait until next Christmas to actually get it!!

I'll be going next week to get one ordered for my new ride!! :car:

I called Toyota and spoke to them about my cracked dash and opened a case. They informed me the program covering replacement of the Dash pad is called ZE6 and that its set to expire in May of 2017. She advised me that I need to have mine replaced before it expires to have Toyota cover the cost and to make an appointment with a dealer ASAP Since the part was on national back order. I had Centennial Toyota confirm my dash was covered and order the part they told be it would be about 3 to 4 months to get the part.

The (extented) warranty enhancement is set to expire May 31, 2017 unless you're covered by the second part of the (extented) warranty enhancement which covers from when the owner first operated the vehicle, e.g. if you first operated the vehicle...say in 2010 you're covered up to 2020.

In my case I bought my 4 Runner this year so I see it as I'm covered until 2026.

"The Primary Coverage offers warranty enhancement described herein for all owners of covered
vehicles until May 31, 2017, regardless of mileage or date of first use of the vehicle.

Secondary Coverage supplements the Primary Coverage for some owners by offering the warranty
enhancement described herein for 10 years from the date of the first use of the vehicle, regardless
of mileage. For instance, if you own a 2009 Camry that was first used on January 1, 2010, you are
entitled to the warranty enhancement through January 1, 2020."
