***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

Thank you for that info. My dealer referred me to a Toyota USA number where they promptly blew me off the phone and said I had to go through the dealer. Still waiting on reply from them, been busy and have not followed up.

Yeah, just walk into the service department and mention the dashboard recall, they'll get you set up.

Does anyone know if this warranty covers the door panel? I have a small crack on the upper dash-like portion behind the trim piece by the mirror. Worried it will spread.

My 4runner's dashboard was replaced today after waiting @4 months. The original one had 3 cracks, one near the side of the radio, a huge coiled looking one over the glove box and a small one between the pillar and the dashboard on the driver's side.

Brand new owner here (well I'll be an owner until Christmas and then my 17 year old takes over :)

Purchased a 2003 V8 on Monday and Wednesday took it to the dealer to get in line for this process.

Really had a fantastic experience with the dealer and they've put me in line. He said it could take 2 to 4 months although they've had some replaced in as few as 2 weeks.

I'll come back here and post when the dash is replaced.

So impressed with the 4Runner that I'm seriously considering ditching my 2006 V6 Porsche Cayenne.

Thanks to this group for whatever role you played in affecting this extension of the warranty!!!!

In my case I bought my 4 Runner this year so I see it as I'm covered until 2026.

Sorry, you're interpretation is incorrect.

It's (primary) 5/31/2017 or (secondary) 10 years from when the vehicle was first sold ("put into service") by Toyota, not when a second/third/fourth/etc. owner purchased it. The dash pad warranty extension also only applies to 2003-2005 4Runners so none of us will qualify for the secondary "10 years from in-service date" extension. Well, I suppose it's technically possible that somewhere there's an 03-05 4Runner that was never titled, but highly unlikely. Realistically, only the 07+ Avalons, Camrys, and Siennas will be covered after 5/31/17.

I am getting my 2003 dash replaced Dec. 28th. It was ordered last year in Dec.
I am the original owner, with 313,900 miles on it.

Took my 04 in today to have it looked at and they said they are ordering the dash along with an airbag module for a recall and told me it'd be about 3 months so we will see..

Went into the dealership last November, 2015 to get this sorted out. Just contacted the dealership again today, still waiting for the dashboard to come in since it is on back order. Hopefully this gets sorted and sent soon.

Just joined the group today. I bought an '03 back in August, I wasn't aware of the dash problems until I took it to the dealer for an initial going over. They let me know about the warranty and ordered my dash. Actually, according to their system, a dash had been ordered by the previous owner in another state. The service advisor said it would be about 4 months. Fast forward today and went in for my 120k service. Different advisor, says I didn't qualify for the warranty. He called parts and sure enough my dash had been ordered but seems to be on "permanent back order". Got the service manager involved and he was a total ass about the whole thing. He said Toyota didn't have to replace the dashes at all, that there were 40,000 on national back-order and basically it wasn't his problem. He gave me Toyota's 1-800 number but we know how that's going to go. I guess, I will sit and spin on my thumb until the dash shows if IF is ever shows up. Really pissed at the dealership though, they could have been less of a jackass about the whole thing.

At that point I would go straight to the owner of the dealership.

UPDATE: Out of the blue today I got a phone call from the dealership. The guy didn't identify himself (service mgr, or advisor or ??) but did give me his name. He said that my dash had been ordered (which I knew) and that they would call me as soon as it came in (really?). To which, I replied that might be a year from now. He said that he just installed one that was ordered last April, this past week, so it might be less time than that. I'm guessing that got that they got the idea I was pissed and the Service Manager was being a douche. At this point, I may just put a cap or carpet cover over it until (or if) the new one shows up. Bad thing is the 4Runner is basically like new on the inside (the previous owner had just recovered the leather and put in new carpet mats etc). EXCEPT for the dash. Makes the whole interior look super raggedity

Hey guys, forgive me if it has been mentioned I did try to check, but if the dash is not cracked we aren't able to order a new one correct? My 04 doesn't have an issue, but I thought preventative maintenence could prove beneficial with the warranty set to expire shortly.

My 2004 has a rebuilt title. I went to the local dealership and they said my dash definitely qualified for the replacement. When he entered my info into the computer though he said they wouldn't cover the dash due to the rebuilt title. He wouldn't clarify if this was a Toyota policy or just that dealer. Anyone experience this?

I have to thank the Forum, OP and the group for making this happen. I have this problem on our 03 and thought it was just bad luck until I ran across this stickies thread. Went to the dealer yesterday and the replacement is ordered. They said, 3-4 months wait. Thank you!

I would try other dealers, if you did mention it had the savage title at the dealer you went to, don't mention it when checking at another dealer, can't hurt to try.

The dealer saw the rebuilt title when he typed in the vin. The other dealer local to me said they'd never heard of this. I gave him the notice number and he said it's fake. I'm going to call Toyota to check with them. Thanks for the reply.

I would contact Toyota directly

maybe this has been mentioned and I missed it, but this only applies to original owners right? I am the second and mine is showing signs finally and it is a 2003 limited. I can live with it but it seems like any tough caused a little damage...
