Cracking JBA UCA ball joint

But what about “moar robust”

lol. A cracked boot is nothing. My SPC ball joints were worn out in a few months, among other problems. Trashed them after about 6 months. Not to mention they are pretty famous for complete failures, like this:

I feel like that's either installation error or driver abuse. No upper control arm stands a chance from you railing a curb.

I feel like regardless of reading about hundreds of SPC failures and problems over the past decade (that are all well documented), you will still believe that your SPC’s are the greatest thing ever invented.

Maybe it's because they haven't been out long enough to know how they stand up over time but I don't think I've seen any major failures with the updated 25480 model. The newer design seems pretty sturdy.

Yes, the newer versions seem to be holding up better. And by better, I mean not suffering catastrophic failures out on the trails. Let’s keep this in context: JBA- deteriorating rubber boot. SPC- complete structural failures of both ball joints and bushings.

LOL, tbh I went with the most low key colored one. Didn't even do research on quality or workmanship.

I didn't want a loud red control arm or silver like the Chaos.

In that case, you are essentially calling yourself out as the last person to be commenting in here about anything. Look, a shiny penny...

Then why are you commenting about JBA’s quality? You buy cheap crap based on appearance.

I don't know about cheap...they were still about $600. I used SPC products in the past w/ Honda cars back in 2005. Had a few of their adjustable camber kits and they were wonderful so I figured hey let's trust them again.

Back to the subject... at what point would you guys deem its not "safe" to drive with the cracking?

I've already noticed slight leakage from the greasing but no issues driving... I asked JBA and they just simply replied that its safe.

Does anyone have an exact date of delivery time? The Tacoma forums seems to be getting pushed out further and further.

side question: what do you guys do with all the excess lube? just wipe it off with a paper towel?

JBA Off-road UCAs ball joint boots

I have a pair of JBA UCAs on my 2016 5th gen 4Runner. I just recently lubed the bushings and the ball joints and notice that the ball joint boots were cracked. So I reached out to Marlin at JBA Off Road. I informed him of my situation and asked if this is covered under warranty. He replied back and said that they had a bad batch of boots and are no longer using that distributor. He sent me a warranty claim form to fill out. I also had to take some pictures of the boots. Anyways, long story short, JBA Off road took care of me. Just waiting for the boots to be sent to me.
