Cracking paint in the engine

Hi,
Sorry if this is a dumb question - I've had my 4Runner for over a month. I am starting to see some paint cracking in the engine. Is this normal? Chicago is going through the hottest summer I remember - 100+ weather everyday for the past few weeks and yes I do use AC all the time. I do not recall seeing it before this head wave. Is this normal wear and tear? I should have taken some pictures of it when I bought it.

Actually that is not paint is just leftover flashing from the casting of the aluminum parts. It is nothing to worry about.

Glad I found this thread. I just picked up a 2012 4runner CPO. I was putting on an AVS tonight and noticed a light light film of oil on various plastic parts. On closer examination I noticed these "cracks". I googled both the light oil film (nothing found yet) and the cracks and found nothing until I saw your paint cracks post. I am glad I did, because now I don't have to worry that I got such a "great" price because something was wrong! Unless the very light oil and dirt is bad.
