have you inspected or cleane the MAF sensor? it might be packed full of mud. might be worth trying. but in my experience with the 3.0, if any of the components that control the spark are failing, the ecu will stop the relays from switching the fuel pump on. if you are getting spark and fuel, sounds like it is an air intake issue. could be an intake gasket, plenum gasket, cracked intake hose... anything that heats up with the engine could be expanding and opening a gap in something that will suck too much air.
I have checked for air flow leeks mas air flow ect. getting code 14 over and over. Seems same as others runs fine 15 30 while computer is in loop mode then temp hits operating level and shuts down, do not want to go through replaceing all parts fuel pemp ect. have done filters and temp gauge sensor spoken of here earlier.

fuel pump would start cutting out at high rpms then eventually fail all together. I can tell you from experience my 93 4runner will run without o2 sensor or coolant temp. I just bought it the other day and the o2 sensor is non existent and the coolant temp sensor is I assume not working as my gauge has never lifted off cold. This just keeps the ecm in open loop and makes it kill the penguins and lack some power and fuel economy. I know this doesn't help much but I'd hook up a fuel pressure gauge and let it run till it dies and see what it says then. Next I'd look at the ignition. Unfortunately with a bad o2 sensor checking the plugs is not a good indication of what your real problem is.

I have the exact same problem with my 94 3.slow 4wd auto, mine actually flooded so bad that i had gas coming out of my throttle body (literally pouring out ) had i tried to start it would have statically locked my engine. Ive tried an ecu, fpr, vaf, and tps ( all were spares i had ) no change, pulled out temp sensor and with multimeter it checked out fine. Pulling my hair out on this, runners been down for 5 months. I ordered the ect switch from the deaership ( local parts store couldnt get it $120.00 ouch!) should have it on monday so we will see what happens. Looking at the wiring diagram this is a saturation injection system: the ecu fires all 3 injectors on the same side all at once ( thats why im surprised that the pickup in the distributer fixed that other guys problem ) Mine is flooding all 6 combustion chambers....:wtf::wtf: I love my 4 runner but this thing is whacked! Ill keep ya posted.
One other thing that was kinda weird before i started throwing parts at it, I tested the injection pulse with a noid light on all 3 of the drivers side injectors.... I got 1 maybe 2 pulses and then nothing on all 3 that i checked ( also checked cold start inj..... same thing ) dont get it.... still scratching head !

I too have been having the same problem as the rest of you minus the whack load of repairs all I have done so far was to change fuel filter and pump and plugs because they needed it. One other thing mine does not shut off after any length of time it just stalls whenever it wants and has problems starting warm. I am playing around with the idea of changing the fuel pressure regulator which has seemed to solve similar issues on other forums. I will keep posting to update on my progress but with a intermittent problem it is hard to diagnose.
