Crawford Eco Block

Has everyone's order been trouble-free?

I have sent a payment through pay-pal after receiving instructions by email now 7 days ago. Have not received any confirmation (even after I asked by email) about the payment receip and/or order processing. Not even a reply.

How long have you guys been waiting before any action was taken on your order?

Shipped out the day I ordered it.

This is a generic Denso post style meter that is also used in other Toyota's & their sister Lexus with different engines. Any idea what other vehicles besides Toyota's this is used in Quirt?

You are absolutely correct. This product is designed for the actual MAF sensor as opposed to the individual vehicle.
A quick list of the vehicles they fit on;
ACURA
BUICK
CHEVROLET
FORD
GMC
HONDA
INFINITY
LEXUS
MAZDA
NISSAN
PONTIAC
SATURN
SCION
SUBARU
TOYOTA

Ok, I've got about 1700 miles since installing the ecoblock. I did no other changes to the truck since installing. Buying my gas at same station, same pump, and I've averaged 18.5 since truck was new, never noticed a change in winter gas, so we might not use that here. Truck has 60,000+ miles.
1st tank- 19.6 mpg, 60/40 city to highway, cruise set at 77 on highway
2nd tank- 18.2 mpg, 80/20 city to highway, hauled ass this tank getting kids to school and practices, I knew this was going to be a bad mpg tank, I figured low 17s, was surprised by the 18.2.
3rd tank- 20.14 mpg, 50/50 city to highway, cruise set at 77. Basically my best mileage ever since new. Only one tank has ever been close, and on that tank I tried taking off slow and kept cruise at 65 when on highway.
4th tank- 18.94 mpg, 70/30 city to highway, cruise set at 77.
5th tank- 20.08 mpg, 50/50 city to highway, cruise set at 77
So before eco block, averaged right at 18.5, since ecoblock 19.3. I have not changed driving habits or any other part on truck.

Shipped out the day I ordered it.

Finally my order apparently shipped last week too, shortly after I ordered, I just didn't receive the confirmation.

that is nearly a 5% increase, providing his previous average was a year-long average, and not only this previous cold-winter average. If his previous miles were done during the autumn, and his current miles during the winter, the increase could be a bit higher too. We always have to keep temperature in mind when comparing fuel economies, since it is the single most disturbing factor after driving style.

As a reference point, a 5% increase in fuel economy (canada gas prices :( ) would net me -at least- 200$ a year. Last year, a 5% increase in fuel economy would have netted me 340$.

Did your Eco Block arrive yet?

Here is my report:

Background - my weekly commute is a short 3 miles each way. I'm probably in open loop the entire drive. I decided to do measure pre install, post, and follow up by taking the eco block off and testing again to account for warming temps etc.

Measured at the pump, same station.

Pre - 14.9 mpg
Post - 16.7 mpg
Return to preinstall-15.1 mpg

Obviously not totally scientific since I didn't test longer term. Either way I'm satisfied enough given the dramatic difference. The post number was the best I've gotten all winter. My butt dyno only works on manual transmission vehicles. :wink2:

How many miles did you run per test and per tank? How many total miles on the rig?

Did you ever run your vehicle post and return to post more than 30 minutes & 15 miles continuously?

Edit below:
I've gotten 17.4 to 19.7 on my same commute at the same pumps back to back so I have to average multiple tanks (sometimes they shutoff way early).

Good point. It could be pump variation. In Jersey you're not allowed to self pump.

I wanted to be able to share results in short order so I refilled on not complete empty tanks. Ran 154, 149 and 167 MI per test. Again potential error with such low numbers. No drives greater than 15 miles.

6k on the odo.

Need the code

Quirt:

Thanks so much for your feedback and patience on this thread! Any reason the code is not being shared on this main thread? I'll make the purchase if I can get my hands on the code. I sent you a PM also, thanks.

I am not a paid vendor on this site so I need to respect the owners. That said, we are looking into becoming a vendor :)

Q2 installed

so got the Q2 installed. no check engine light, no issues. just drove a few mile test run pre and post install that included a long hill. need more time for the butt dyno results, but primarily reporting that the car still runs fine with no strange error or check engine lights.

Good to hear, let us know your impressions after a few tanks of gas.

will do, but I'm afraid I won't have an apples to apples comparison. my last 1,300 miles averaged 18.1 mpg, but that was 90% highway 10% city, while my next tanks will be about 100% city. i'll still post the updates though, when I have them. on another note, I didn't see anywhere on this or the TW thread any emissions testing (plenty of dyno concern though). without that info it would seem safest to remove the eco-block before my next emissions test, just because I'm really not sure what the test results would be, and would not want to log an emissions failure to my VIN. do I have any cause for concern or are there any pre - post emissions test results? thanks :car:

Viking-777, I just had both my Tacoma and the daughter's 4Runner inspected and both passed with flying colors. I have the emissions report if you want me to post them.

Makes sense since the ECU will compensate with short (closed loop) and long (open loop) term trims. Plus most emissions testing is done while closed loop.
