"Crawler" cam?

Howdy! After doing a compression test on my 87's 22RE and finding that everything's in good shape, I was wondering about the 261C Crawler cam.. anybody run one of these in their 22RE ? Any noticeable difference onroad &/or offroad?
Any advice would be appreciated..

i have what the machinist called an "RV" cam. it makes the truck shake back n forth and idle rough, but its a 4 cyl with an auto,,,,so,,,, well it is what it is. Sorry, not much help.

crawler cam makes the 2wd stick start off better in gear. in my 4wd high it does help get the truck going. it makes a big difference in my starting from dead stop. hence the reason they call it the crawler cam it helps in low rpm situations. crawling through mud holes, crawling in a parking lot

I dropped in a new head with the 261C cam this past fall. Head also had slightly larger valves. It was a nice improvement over stock, better power throughout the usuable RPM range but didn't really improve low end by all that much.

Cool, so overall, the cam is worth installing?
With a cam, should I also add a header & possibly a bigger exhaust pipe?
..Or naah, just the cam?

yup for sure the header and at leat 2 inch pipe all the way back.

i think just the header and pipe on my toy was a vast improvment then the cam made sense to me becasue i haul a boat and its a pain to start out from a dead stop without reving the engine to 5k

I just installed a cb radio with a lil Wilson on the roof, AND a new cd player so finally got some tunes to jam to & I get to flirt with truckers.

Well you can get a really exspensive one or a cheap on.
the pacesetter header will work just fine.

With Pacesetter headers a good fit can be a problem. I know a few people that have used them and they don't fit as good as a better header. They'll hit the frame or somewhere else, and may need to be persuaded to fit correctly without rubbing.
It doesn't always happen, just something to consider.
