Creaking at full stop / go

I started hearing a light creaking noise sometimes (not always) when coming to a full stop in the vehicle, or after stopping and starting to apply the accelerator. It does seem to coincide with the front of the vehicle rising back up (under acceleration).

It doesn't seem to come when releasing the brake, but only when applying the accelerator (and the front of the vehicle comes up a bit). However, I am not able to recreate the noise when bouncing on the rock sliders or off the front of the vehicle, and I don't hear it when going over bumpy / uneven surfaces.

I installed a Toytec 3" lift about a year ago. I also only noticed the noise start after needing to slam the brakes really hard a couple times in the same week under emergency braking.

Any idea what the source might be?

Experienced something similar and it was the upper control arms needing to be tightened.

you could also try some WD40 on the pivot points.

do you have grease fittings up there?

Thanks guys, I'll try to get in there and make sure everything is tight or if I can better source the noise and maybe apply some lubricant.

I had the clacking clunking clicking... whatever people want to describe it as... I torqued my LCAs to the spec 129ft/lbs.

The sound started to occur after I got an alignment after I installed my OME lift.


This issue is starting to pop up a lot on the forum.

There was a pretty long thread about the same issue a while back and torquing the control arms to spec seemed to fix it.

You are correct but only with modded 4Runners. Stock has no problems.

True, I did not have any issues prior to the lift.

I have the issue now with 60,000 miles and have never touched the suspension. I will be checking the bolts!!
