creaking springs

Not sure if anyone has experienced this.

Have v6, ome v8 springs/ billies, for extra weight. LRUCA, and gussets on spindles. The ucas have the newer bushings in them. Had all these installed for
2yrs/ approx. 20k.

Noticeable issue, going over speed bumps, curbs on compression stroke, get a creak/ squeak sound from the spring on left side. I can bounce on the front end and it won't duplicate. I have lifted the ride with a jack, and let it down fast while holding the spring and you can feel it on the spring.

Everything is tight, bolted, no cracks anywhere that would give me any other area to direct me.

I do wheel it hard at times, so I do take my SB on/off as needed. It is off at the moment.

Is this normal the spring making noise after time?

Are you sure it's the spring?

I've got a similar setup, V6 with OME 885s/Billies and LR UCAs installed for about 75k miles. I had a creak/squeak at one point and was convinced it was the spring as well, but it ended up being the lower ball joint.

So to answer your question, I don't think its normal for the springs to make noise after time.

There's no clunk to it at all, just a long creaking sound as it does its compression travel, like rusty springs in a old 60-70's car.
I can feel the vibration on the springs when doing the jack method.

Strange that the LBJ would make that kind of sound when bad.
I'll break the LCA off and check though. Thanks.

I did not have a clunk either, just a creaking sound. Definitely not a sure thing, but it's another possibility for you to investigate at least. Best of luck, let us know what you find.

that is the exact type of noise ball joints, or TRE's will make when they are bad. the socket is dry, and grating on itself.

That sucks, no rips or tear, no signs of sepage ever.
Guess we'll chaulk this one up to " good old hard wheeling".
