That and the strobe idea for those of us who can run our T4R's code. Not too applicable for everyone else tho.

Better watch out for glare off of the hood if you want to try that mod.... don't do anything permanent before checking it out. I know that wranglers like mine have sideview mirror-mount lights and people with certain color jeeps complain about the hood glare when they are turned on at night.

I had the Night Rider idea a while back too. Glad to see I was not alone. Mine is black so it would be perfect. I think external speakers under the truck that could play the sound effect would top it all off. For the hardcore folks you could let it rip into the entire theme song. Let's get Bonnie on this.

Sorry Karl, didn't mean for you to lose sleep over it! But glad I was able to help you find what you were looking for. 10" in the grille? I thought you were mounting in the scoop? We all want to see video when it's installed... for your rig's light show, pictures don't say enough.

BTW, for those of you who wanted to custom build something and insert some weatherproof JUMBO LEDs in the actual faceplate of the scoop, I found some online schematics for the circuit for making them scan... You'd need to seal the board in epoxy resin to make it weatherproof.

The Cicadas came out last year (They come out every 17years in the east coast region) and it was great for catching them while driving.

Not to be confused with John Secada:

I used to catch those when I was a kid. They are about 1.5-2 inches long. We would tie a piece of thread around them under their wings and let them fly circles around us while they made noise. Good times.

Shh . . . . someone is giving away my secret about making a Nightrider light out of the hood scoop! Steve5300, a fellow firefighter, but in flashing LEDs in there. His does not have the nightrider pattern though, so I am trying to see if I can get my LEDs to flash like that . . . .I will post pics if successful.

Otherwise, PIAA DOES make a light that would fit, although you would probably need to cut into the plastic a good amount (I'm not sure how thick the light is). Someone posted a pic of the light, I thought it was on the thread about installing the rear fog/brake/turn signal lights into the bumper reflectors, but I can't find the pic. They are basically 5 or 6 LEDs in a row- white for back up, red for LED. I bet that would fit well, maybe even two, side by side, but again, I'm not sure about the thickness . . . Or how functional it would be . . . .

You could cut a circuit board the same size as the hole and make a led chaser circuit. Kit bash one like this or use two of these with a resistor to reduce your 12v car bat to 9v. then run the switch into your dash somewhere.
