this is creepy. i sell basketball tickets on craigslist here in CO and recently some guy who does not live in CO replied asking for a pair to the Knicks game since he would be in town that weekend. he said his friend lived here and could meet me and gave me his number. i called his friend to meet up but the guy was busy and ive been too busy to meet up with him since. meanwhile the guy has emailed me a dozen times asking when i can meet up and i told him not anytime soon.

then today...i get an email from him (one of 4 in a row) and he knows my address :wtf: he asks "do you live at..." and he had my address. then another email a minute later asking about my photograpy 'business'. how the F did he get that? CL hides your email address so he doesnt have that only my name and that i live in CO.
his friend that lives here doesnt have a car but also doesnt live very far from me. he works at a Shell station just down the street and lives about 2-3miles from me. should i be worried? thank goodness next to my bed i sleep with a loaded Sig P250 9MM

He probably tracked you down using your phone number... that is very odd. Watch your back.

See if you can out creep him and get him to run the other way. Tell him you like to get crapped on etc. I would run but I'd never stalk you to begin with.

i replied and said hes a creep and i wont be meeting up with him and to go somewhere else for tickets. then replied with this long email about how i deceited him and i am a scam. that hes going to report me to CL and post my info on the site. what a f'n weirdo. get over it, theres 100's of tickets to the game for sale go buy those.

Most residential lines are easy to reverse lookup. Some cells are easy as well, others you may have a service or small fee.

That's a pretty good track record if you ask me. I sell stuff on CL too (not nearly as much as you) but I'd say 1 outta every 5 that I meet is a weirdo. It's gotten to the point that I rather junkyard some stuff than put up with these freaks.

there are services a citizen can use for a small fee that can do this... or just a simple reverse lookup if its a landline.

And this is why I use a pinger number and free texting for all my Clist deals. There are some major weirdos on there. I've met quite a few characters on Clist so far. Also with a pinger number it goes straight to my iphone and theres no spam YAY.

Yeah, as other's have said any public information is available online, name, address, phone number (unless unlisted) are public. Watch these guys or ones like them, one will agree to meet while the other robs your place.

Track down the IP address he originally emailed you from. It's most likely going to be either his cell or home internet. With that you can literally find any information you want on him and all it takes is to google how to do it, or watch a YouTube video. Also stubhub>cl for ticket sales in my experience.

Unless he's using a proxy. Stubhub charges fees, so I could understand going CL... but then you have to deal with the riff raff

craigslist has a section to report these weirdo guys so I sent them all of the info.
im going to setup a different acct and be a little safer now. hate dumba@@ that gotta be like this. haven't had an issue for 5yrs until one weirdo guy who lives on the internet.

Thanks for this thread, and all y'all that replied. I'm selling some wheels/tires on CL right now. I do have a dummy email set up for this, but it was a good reminder to not give out personal info.
