criuse controll?

hey i have a 1997 t4r v6 4x4 5spd manual and my cruise controll does not work. When i set it the light comes on, on the dash but doesnt do anything, anybody know anything about this. thanks to anyone who can give some advice.

check the fuses, worked on my dads jetta (i know different car).
