Cross Bars

When I got my 4runner one of the stock crossbars was broken. I went to the dealership to try to order a new one but you have to buy both the crossbars and the side rails and that was 200+. I just need one of the crossbars. I looked all over online and cannot find one for my year (new or used). Does anyone have any info on where I could get one?

You may want to post an ad in the classifieds here and toyota120.com.

I checked toyotapartszone.com and didn't see the crossbar alone. I know you can buy a full rack for somewhere between $160 and $210 on eBay, but not sure about the crossbar.

Midatlantic has a diagram of the rack here - Roof Rack but the diagram doesn't show the sport rack. There are two rails available for $130 and $270, so one of those may be correct but at that price (before shipping) you'd be better to get the full rack from $160-210 on eBay.

edit - sorry $210 was the cheapest price I found on ebay right now - ebay

Thank you for looking into that for me gaterose. I posted it in the want to buy section. Do you know if the crossbars are different from the sport, sr5, limited's? BTW your runner is my favorite on here. Don't tell the others.

Yes, they are different between the sport rack and the others. I upgraded my Limited/SR5 rack to a sport rack (before I got the Gobi) and the crossbars were slightly different sizes.

Yes, they are different between the sport rack and the others. I upgraded my Limited/SR5 rack to a sport rack (before I got the Gobi) and the crossbars were slightly different sizes.

Hey gaterose, I just thought of something and since you have worked with them I'd figure I'd ask you. the part of the cross bar that is broken is the plastic piece the hooks into the side bars. Since that plastic piece screws into the cross bar I could just reuse the bar part that I already have a get the plastic end off of an sr5, sport, or limited? would be easier to find and ship than the whole bar.

If I remember correctly the bar was a slightly different shape so that it wouldn't fit that well but did fit. Maybe the set screws were in a slightly different place too, can't confirm it right now though sorry.
