Well I have been thinking about selling/trading my 2010 Trail Edition and getting a 3rd gen. Reason being sick of my payment for my short 15 mile daily commute and I am deployed for 6 months back for a year and deployed again for 6 months. Plans for will include lift rims/ tires bumper and sliders bajarack.

Your current rig looks pretty sweet from your AVATAR pic....but a 3rd Gen would be nice too. At least you wouldn't have a payment!

That would be sweet and probably smart. No use making payments for a year of not driving your 4runner. If it turns out anything like your 5th gen it will be sick.

We love our 3rd gens, but you will notice the lack of power compared to the 5th gen. If that's a concern, you might be disappointed. The 3.4 isn't gutless, it just isn't the 4.0.

I had an 04 SR5 that I bought new and it was paid off and I traded it for the Trail which was a dumb move. I already found a 2002 sport with 120k miles I am going to be looking at this week hopefully if the guy emails me back. Here is a couple pics of my 4th gen and my 5th gen

nice 5th gen dude. I did something similar to what you're talking about. Had a new-ish tacoma, loved it but after awhile and I got tired of the payments and wanted something that I could take off the road and not mind getting a couple scratches here and there. I had enough cash saved up from a deployment to buy my 4runner outright and it was the best decision ever!
Definitely right about loss of power, but you get accustomed to it quick than forget about it.

Oh well, it is nice though not having to worry about making payments and a smart decision since you wouldn't drive it much anyway.
