Cruise Control Occasionally Cuts Off

I have a 2018 ORP and I have noticed, though somewhat rare, the cruise control will cut off. The cruise light will remain on, but the "set" light goes off. If there is a pattern to this, it's when I'm going through mountain passes or tighter curves on the freeway, but nothing too steep or tight. Is this a fail safe type mode or should I take to the dealer? Thanks.

I live in CO and have seen this, too. I've never bothered to research it but I assume it is a rollover avoidance measure based on yaw of the vehicle measured against speed.

Both situations you described you shouldn't be using cruise to begin with. Not sure what's causing it to cut off, but the system is dumb and is only really good at holding the speed on flat straight roads.

My 2018 Pro has the same problem. I drive with the cruise on driving home late at night on the streets. 40mph speed limit. Once I come to a couple of slight curves in the road, it shuts off. I use cruise to and from work as there are lots of motorcycle cops on the drive through residential areas. Frustrating, since my 2001 had the same exact mechanism as my 2018 and didn’t have these problems. I was hoping that after all these years that my 2018 should have a better cruise control that holds it speeds going downhill, etc. I’m guessing they finally addressed this issue with the 2020?

Glad I'm not the only one that hates the cruise control in my truck. It never seems happy keeping a constant speed, overshoots the acceleration back to speed, and won't let it lose more than .5 - 1 mph going uphill before kicking down way too aggressively.

Save that and the horrible intermittent wiper settings I'm a happy man.

No dealer will be able to put in the time or effort to reproduce this feature. Even if they did, the fix would be beyond their mental grasp.

2020 model cruise control has been re-programmed. Actually works pretty darn good now.
Maintains good speed uphill and downhill. Doesn't overrun or under-run.
One of the few 'improvements' on the 2020 model.

Outweighs the er... 'negative' improvements on the Audio/Navigation systems, those systems are now a bit of a disaster.
