has anyone done crystal mill trail recently that can provide some insight/pictures. I've watched numerous YouTube videos on the road but all are out dated. I am going up this Friday and wondering what to expect.
Went a couple weeks ago. Not sure what info you are after. There is one rock that takes a little effort to get around or over above the punch bowl. Other than that it's a shelf road.
Our 4-wheel group in Crested Butte did it about a month ago. We ate at the BBQ place in Marble and then did the Lead King loop that circles back to the trail that goes from Marble -> Crystal -> Schofield Pass. We backtracked to Crystal once we hit the Marble -> Schofield trail so everyone could take the usual Crystal Mill pictures (it's only a couple of miles out of the way). We then headed back the way we'd come to go through the Punch Bowl and up to Schofield. It was actually in better shape than it has been the last number of years; possibly in the best shape I've ever seen it. I would highly recommend that you take in the Lead King loop because it's probably the most spectacular scenery you're going to find up there. It adds some time to the trip but it's definitely worth it.
Was that a day trip or an overnighter
