CTHome T10 Head Unit coming?

Has anyone seen or heard anything more about it? Was thinking about getting a T9, but if the T10 will be available soon, I may need to hold off for a bit.

4G SIM card option is cool. Seems like a 5G option would have more longevity. But since it is just a module I’m sure an updated version will become available to swap.
Noticed Zlink only supports up to IOS 12. I think they are on 14 now. I’m not familiar with the previous radio versions, but assume there will be software updates.
Wonder if you can push updates if you have a SIM card installed.

For data access, I am using an external wifi CarPlay dongle so I can run CarPlay wirelessly via wifi and then connect native apps via a personal hotspot connection at the same time.

Do you have more info on how this is set up? I'm very intrigued by not having to use a usb cable every time I connect my phone to the headunit, but still get the data/power benefits.

Also, I know the wireless carplay on the T9 was known to have some skipping or connectivity issues. Have you seen any of this using the external carplay dongle?

Here is a short video I shot with the T9. I use the same dongle configuration on the T10.

My experience....the built in wireless CarPlay on the T9 was not good. Lots of skipping, echoing calls, connection issues etc. I swapped over to the dongle and CarPlay ran very smooth, no dropouts, good initial connection speed etc. The only problem I had was a continuous echo problem on calls using the built in mic over CarPlay....didn't matter if I used the built in wireless CarPlay or the dongle. It was not good and I didn't want to used the external puck mic.

So I swapped over to the T10 and calls with the internal mic over BT are good. But when I load up CarPlay on the internal wireless connection, I still get a slight echo that is worse when the caller volume is turned up...It is better than the T9, but it is still there. So I decided to test out the wired/wireless dongle from my T9 on the T10. Same good connection, no skipping and calls do not echo. It just works.

Even though it’s running hardwire CarPlay and charging, the charge rate is slower then the iphone power usage. But you can resolve the charge rate issue when plugged in by adding a usb hub.

Yes. Many early 5th gen guys with no reverse have updated to the T9/10.

Installed a black 6-128 yesterday in my 2015 TEP. The black trim matches the flat black trim elements on the AC vents....looks pretty good. Running a set of Focal flax components up front and coax in the rear off only headunit power and it sounds great. Love the EQ and DSP controls. For data access, I am using an external wifi CarPlay dongle so I can run CarPlay wirelessly via wifi and then connect native apps via a personal hotspot connection at the same time. If you use the built in TLink wireless CarPlay then you can't run the hotspot connection at the same time. But for me, there is no need for a dedicated SIM with running the secondary dongle...also, if I want to do a bunch of app downloads or updates, I just pull in the garage and connect to my home network.

Last comment on connectivity, I also have a wireless charger installed in my OCD armrest organizer to keep my iPhone topped off. CarPlay chews the battery and you have the option to plug in to the dongle, but I prefer just tossing the phone in the armrest and connect wirelessly....simple add on that really makes this a nice setup.

Only downside:

1) there is some discussion on the built in Mic positioning and it affecting call quality. I do have some echoing on CarPlay calls....which I think is a different issue. So I am going to test out BT calls today to see if this is just a CarPlay problem...my T9 had the same issue.

2) The unit ships with a harness that has a full set of RCA outputs (FL/FR/RR/RL/Sub) and an external mic jack in the same plug. It has a second set of connectors with some RCA outputs and the SIM card tray in the same size connector plug. This second harness is the only one that works....meaning there is one connector slot and two harnesses with the same plug. So when you use the one with the SIM tray, you do no have a jack for an external mic....pretty much have to live with the builtin one. The other RCA output bundle only works on the T9....meaning there are NO RCA outputs on this unit to run an external amp and retain the headunit DSP controls. So if you are considering buying this unit and see that it has a DSP with 6-channel output...that does not mean those outputs are to a full set of 6 RCAs. I am still trying to see if one of the RCA outputs on the SIM card harness is for a sub....the DSP software has all the controls for a sub, but I have no idea if there is actually a RCA jack for it.....just nonsense.

Above being said, you can always build a T-harness to pull out the speaker level leads....but I just can't understand how they push out this unit without a full set of RCA outputs...then again, the T9 had really low output over the RCAs so this may not be a big deal to others on the T10...I just really wanted a simple set of 4-5V outputs with DSP control via the T10 headunit.

Otherwise....the unit is waaaay cool and looks OEM.

PITA...so are you going the T-harness route? I just built my sound system setup and put it in a cart to buy (replacing all) and planned on using the t10.

Can you tell me how your setup is routed?

Has anyone else installed the T10? My OEM stereo is shot and need to replace but trying to decide if i go conventional with Pioneer or Kenwood or try the T10.

I put the t9 into my '10 trail and i'm generally happy with it. It does have some hiccups like general software stability (maps crashed on the way to work today) but the functionality is a HUGE upgrade. If you do end up with one, definitely go through CTH, their guy in charge of them, Sevag, has a FB group that has a ton of tips and troubleshooting that helped a ton.

Finally, if you have a 10-13 with JBL/nav the rear speakers don't work by default because of the way the stock amp is connected. The FB group has a method for getting them to work using an extra RCA cable to connect 2 sets of RCAs on the head unit, but i feel that produced poor sound and caused some speakers to clip. I recently posted a method of using an Axxess TYTO-01 amplifier interface that allows you to operate the stock amp the same way the factory head unit did. The results are night and day. It is like having the stock head unit sound but the functionality of an android tablet in your dash.

If you have a bit of patience to learn the interface I think the T9/10 is a great unit and is totally worth it. To contrast that though, my wife is not a car person and isn't patient with electronics and I would not put one of these in her car.

I received my T10 yesterday. I have gone thru the install, but cannot get past a glitch. My HU has the heated seats icon in the middle of the screen and I cannot click past it. My 4Runner doesn't have heated seats. I've tried contacting the vendor, Rhino Radios, but they haven't replied. Has anyone experienced this with the current or last gen model?

This is a reply I saw on the CTH T10 page.

" Update: looks to be a bad canbus. When unplugged, the heater icon goes away and I can access all the usual radio functions minus steering wheel controls. I am hoping I can get a new canbus from Rhino soon.
Update 2: Rhino walked me thru this issue. Turns out it needed to be updated with 18 camry auto in secondary settings via WiFi update. Reconnected canbus afterwards and she's working fine. "
