has anyone travled to Cuba yet? ive read the rules for non tourist travel. the currency and basic info. looking for tips and secrets. cheaper places to get a visa besides here. they want $50+35+25. i am thinking of heading that way in May for 4-5 days

I'd like to know as well my sister and I wanting to visit Cuba badly. It won't be any time soon when I get to go but hopefully in the next couple of years.

we can catch non stop flights here from Denver, they are limited but exist.
some stuff that i found that were un-expected things (sorry, loose notes)

• Must have non-US medical insurance. can purchase when arrive
• can not bring any of their currency back to the states
• US credit and debit cards are not accepted. cash only
• need minimum 2 blank pages in passport
• When exchanging currency, use the state-run offices known as CADECAs
• travelers can go to film and produce television programs and movies, record music and create art there as long as they have experience in the relevant field.
• ordinary tourism remains off limits, and travelers have to mark a box to denote the purpose of their trip, and they are required to keep travel receipts for five years after they return. In most cases, they are also expected to have a full-time schedule of activities related to their category of travel.
• Americans can now bring back up to $400 in souvenirs, including $100 worth of cigars

I still haven't made it. I have gone on several other trips and I was just in key west where I could almost swim to Cuba, but haven't made it to Cuba yet.
I keep seeing images pop up and it puts the bug in me to go, I need to just pick some dates and go

I've always wanted to visit a communist country and re-experience the hopeless despair me and my family had growing up in communist Poland while at the same time comforted by the fact that my tourist dollars are going into the pockets of a murdering, raping anti-US regime.

But, hey, war pig Michael Moore said they have world class free health care!
