cup holder?

Hi everyone.
I just got a '86 and need a cupholder and a tachometer.
Any suggestions out there?

for the tach you could get an SR5 gauge cluster from a junkyard or ebay, just have to swap the oil pressure sending unit and everything else is plug and play. for a cup holder easiest thing alot of poeple do is just a roll of duct tape...

Duct tape... now why didn't I think of that?

4runner cup holders are the worst thought out thing ever. How can you keep your drink from spilling in a square cup holder!!? I'm going to make some money inventing an adapter that will slide right into the cup holder spot in the console and change it from square to round. Don't you people go stealing my idea and try to market it first!!

Oh, and good luck with the sr5 gauge cluster, i looked and looked and the only one I could find was $250 on ebay. I just went up to autozone and bought a dash mount tach.

Go to the wreckers for the cluster or do the autozone thing. I used the center console from an 02 Tacoma, didn't fit perfectly but with a little massaging it looks great and now I have a bigger and better arm rest as well as 2 cup holders. Mine does not have the rear heater though so that wasn't an issue. You need to get the shifter bezel also, they look the same but they are different enough that they don't line up perfectly. The funny thing was that it was given to me for free because the little rubber flaps that hold the cups in place were ripped and looked like crap. Went to the dealer and replaced them for under $10.00. One of the cheapest and best mods this coffee drinker ever did.

a good place to keep an eye on is the for sale section on yota tech or even post a want ad there you would have a good chance of getting one there.

i personally prefere the stock sr5 cluster it looks alot nicer than an aftermarket ricey looking tach

I found an sr5 instrument cluster on ebay.
Should be here next week.

Any experience with the oil pressure sending unit?
I have read both that I need to replace it, and I don't.

i have never done it myself but i have read lots on yotatech that if you reuse the old sending unit you will burn out the gauge on your new cluster. the original sending unit is basically just a switch that turn on the low pressure light, the sr5 is variable to operate the gauge.
