cup holders

OK everyone, need an answer to this one:

the cup holders in my 4runner don't hold my coffee or mcd's cups. the adjuster either makes them too small or too big.

Has anyone found an alternate insert that adjusts to more positions? Anything available thru partznet?

If not, I'm going to have to find a way to make my own!

Paper napkins make up the difference if the adjuster is too small for the cup. That's what I've used for odd size items...

I have same issue with my 20oz bottels.

The cup holders for back seat work perfect but front ones really suck.

yeh, I've been using napkins, gum pkgs, and whatever else was around. But I am frustrated with spilling my f- coffee on my pants leg when I take a turn!

I was actually going to try and make my own mold with some cardboard and then spray some of isocyanite insulation it. I use a limited number of types of cups and thought I could make my own if I have to, but wanted to hear if the aftermarket had something that fit in there first. Why reinvent the wheel, right?

cup holder

instead of altering the runner, it would be cheaper to go to wally world and buy a new coffee cup that fits?

BINGO, We have a winner! :bigok:

actually, I'm just going to make a new insert.
I have like 10 coffee cups and none of them fit right.
Got one I should try?
let me know.

About the only thing American car designers do right is make good cup holders IMO. It's also about the only thing the Japanese manufactuers apparently cannot do.

The T4R holders are just appalling - appallingly placed (so you have to reach to get them and keep knocking cups with your legs), and appallingly designed, so about 1 in 10 cups and bottles actually fit them despite the adjusting feature.

I might take another look at generic cup holders in Kragen or Target and see if I can alter them to fit in some way. I'm so sick of having no-where to put a starbucks cup, or having a water bottle fly around the cabin every time I make a turn.

Bah! That only holds 14oz's. I need way more coffee than that.:D
That's why I carry a Thermos when traveling and start with a full insulated mug. With the two of them, you can go a long way before the next fillup.

06 sport has adjustable arms

My 06 has adjustable arms in the plastic center piece(the piece in the middle you can take out and move from one side to other or out) that come out to fit all sizes of cups....this shouldn't be a problem in an 06

all 4th gens have this...

Yea they suck, the only thing they hold well is a Nalgene bottle, but I bring one of those in the car maybe 6 times a year, I wish it could hold a regular fast food cup without me having to hold it every time I took a corner. They wont even hold the super big gulps without me having to worry about them tipping over. I too agree the adjustable arms are useless, Ive resorted to making sure I have a bunch of napkins to stuff in there.

yeah min works just fine. Although I have to admit my girlfriend is the one that figured out they are adjustable lol. :p
