Hm, I like this and it's a great price. I wonder what/how he added the tire carrier and if it's a swingout. Problem I see is that it seems to ADD to the clearance. My rear has already got dinged and pulled out a bit, don't want it even lower.

Not mine, I was looking at someone selling on FB and this ebay/ amazon version apparently fits 4th gens, even though marketed for 5th gen

Just wish we had some more info on adapting to the 4runner, how it mounts, etc.

I just purchased this Vijay bumper from Amazon. Hopefully it bolts right up. If not, I'm a fabricator by hobby now so we will see what it takes to make it work!

So the 5th Gen 4Runner bumper WORKS with minor modification! You have to remove a few things from the frame and obviously cut the OEM plastic- but if I could make it this clean with a 1" body lift, I bet y'all could do much better!

For $700 shipped and at my front door in 4 days- I am pretty darned happy!

Hey! I think the material is strong enough for a 35 for sure. Its very rigid, and the swingout uses the dual conical bearing design. I can sit on it when its opened up and it still closes fine time and time again.

So, I had to chop off the original tire carrier stops, two metal pieces that the original tire butts up against when its raised.. I do wish the sides of the bumper came up higher, but its nice how much realestate you have to play with when trimming your plastic bumper to match up.

I even kept my OEM trailer hitch for this one, its not the HD one that bolts in 3 locations, but still. Im impressed that it worked.

How did you trim up your bumper to match? Awkwardly hold it and do a bit of a time?

My current bumper cover is beat to shit, so I think my plan is to take it off, pop the dents out, sand it and paint it with some matte VHT which should match the bumper decently well....

Hey, sorry for the late reply! I measured from the metal part of the car to the top of the bumperat points of the fender flare, where the plastic fender clips are, the outer edge of tail light and inner edge of tail light.

I then put painters tape on plastic bumper, flipped it upside down and measured from the ground up and making corresponding marks of the measurements I made earlier.

As a note, subtracted 1/8" from each measurement to give some room for the included weather strip deal that cleans up the cut edges.

It does kinda hand down a little low, it does follow the 5th gen body lines, but looks like a "long face" on the 4th gen lines. I do plan on doing a little "massaging" on the rear bumper before 35's that may also aid in the look of it.

Its mainly 5/32" but the mounting surfaces are much thicker.
