Looks awesome. I'm currently trying to source a hinge and latch for the carrier I'm about to build and it's not as easy as I thought to find the right parts.

Where did you get yours from?

Your bumper looks amazing!:rockon: I hope my swing out will turn out as nicely. I also plan on mounting my tire on the driver side, any feedback on how it handles the weight/visibility? I did get a back up cam for s&gs, but we'll see how that goes.

[MENTION=91423]Asaspades93[/MENTION] Yeah I saw the EMS stuff. It looks like a nice kit but the hinge won't work for me. I have a 4xinnovations rear bumper so the hinge has to be mounted on a vertical face, just like the bumper in this thread.

All of the brackets were custom, just a jigsaw and drum sander. I made templates out of poster board then transferred them to 1/8" sheet. The pivot is 2" .250 wall DOM with Delrin bushings. I had the Delrin bushings made, but bought the material at the link below. You have to use Delrin or brass on the pivot. Urethane isn't firm enough to keep the carrier from sagging when it's open. There is a slight sag with the Delrin but not much.

For the latch side I just used a universal polyurethane bushing found at the link below.

The pin I found on eBay. There is a small rubber bumper that holds some tension on the carrier so it doesn't shake. You can see the plate below the latch, it's behind that plate. So I have to push the tire carrier in to insert the pin.

I didn't notice much difference in the handling. I don't have any sway bars so it already leaned pretty good during heavy cornering. I hardly notice it back there. I don't think it limits the visibility very much. Having it on the drivers side seems to help.

In addition, I did have to upgrade the rear body mounts to urethane. With all the extra weight on the frame rail there was some shake due to the frame flexing. Removing the soft rubber body mount on the rear and replacing it with urethane made a big difference. It also keeps the body from hitting the bumper when you take a big hit in the rear. The body mount bushings move a lot.
