Cutting the Exhaust Pipe

I've tried doing searches regarding the cons of cutting the exhaust pipe back and not finding a darn thing. Need some input.

I don't like the look of it sticking out the back. I'm debating whether to cut it off so it's not visible or just cut it off and add a curved extended tip.
I've been told that if you cut it off and leave it that the fumes enter various vents under the truck that are not tightly sealed.
Anyone heard of this? Thoughts?

That is exactly what can happen, and is why all cars off the line have it vented either out back or back side.

As long as your moving, it isn't an issue. It is when you are stopped. Traffic, school, snow. Idle. Is when fume enter your car. Your car is not air tight, can't be. It has vents all over the place to prevent you "blowing" a window out when you slam the door.

You can modify it. Change it to a side rather than straight out. Just make sure it isn't under your car.

Thanks, DC! That's what I was told as well but wasn't able to find anything to back it up. Not even through google.
That's fine. I'll just continue with the original plan, to have it stick out the side.
Thanks for reply!
