CV axle seal at transfer case stuck..help

I am replacing my CV axles and I went to pull out the seal at the transfer case tonight, and it will not come out. I tried hooks, picks and a screw driver. It tore in some places, but didnt budge. I have the replacement, so Im good there, but I need to get the old one out. Any suggestions?

Can you grab the seal with some needle nose pliers? You could also spray a little penetrating lube like PB Catalyst- sometimes the metal outer ring can seize in place.
