CV install struggle

I'm trying to replace the cv shafts on both sides on my 99 4wd. I was able to remove the drivers side faster than I was able to jack up the truck but I'm having to struggle to put the new one in. It's a NEW auto zone axle part # 7498N. It won't seat completely with about 1/2" to go. I believe there is a c clip that needs to engage but is that my only issue ?

Anyone have any suggestions ? I'm willing to return them and get the NAPA ones I heard a lot of good things about.

I didn't really have any problems when I did replaced mine with Napa. To get the clip to engage I put a loooong flat head screwdriver on the lip of the axle and hit it with a deadblow hammer.

I think the part you are having problems with is step 25

I'll give that a shot. Did you get the new or re manufactured ones from NAPA ?
The parts girl said the remanufactured ones are rebuilt toyota and the new ones are made in China. 60 for the rebuilt 3 year warranty and 120 for the new with lifetime warranty.

a pry bar and a hammer will pop that thing right in.

I got the new one. Haven't heard much good about remanufactured for wheeling but it all depends what you do with it. The warranty was also a selling point for me. I also kept my toyota ones to reboot and have spares.

Thank you both very much. I gave it a few whacks and it slid right in. Now to the other side which will probably (hopefully) take half the time.
