Cylinder 3 misfire!! HELP!!!

its good now. i replaced the #3 injector and all 4 of the little injector o-rings(for the top and bottom of the other 2 injectors).

Care to share exactly what went wrong? I've never done an injector swap and I'd like to learn from your experience so the 'gas spraying' thing doesn't happen to me...

I put fuel injector cleaner throught the truck a couple months ago and i guess it went throught the #3 injector and got some trash clogged up in it so i replaced the #3 injector and all the o-rings on the injectors.

Did you figure out the issue? I have a similar problem w/ '95 NO (10psi) on #4....any suggestions?

I suggest you post in the 2nd Gen section of T4R. They will know better about that issue.

I had a cylinder 3 misfire for the longest time just recently. I changed spark plugs the coils and it still rumbled and shook it constantly threw me the engine light but Thanks to a lot of these threads it turned out to be the #3 fuel injector it's running like new. It has over 350k miles so I was worried but I have taken great care of it so I knew it wasn't a head

I am very curious why a bad injector will not code and the engine will run fine when starting out with a cold engine. After a little driving at running temp, a misfire is VERY apparent and it will then throw the misfire code.

I would think a bad injector will rear its ugly head at start up. Very curious why a cold engine will not misfire until it is driven at operating temp for a few miles.

My son and I replaced #3 injector yesterday and so far so good. NGK spark plugs were changed a couple of months ago when we did valve cover gaskets. NGK wires have 40K miles on them. We switched coils first but #3 still coded so we decided it was the injector.

infamousRNR and I helped out another member with a misfire problem and went through similar steps to diagnose it and decided to renew all the injectors. Unfortunately, the misfire problem is still there.

For anyone else still struggling with misfires after replacing the spark, coil, and injectors. (which should be the first things to replace imo) Next step is to get a compression test done. Turned out my cylinder3 had low compression. My low compression was due to a stuck exhaust valve that wouldn't fully close. Motor had 218k. I ended up having the motor fully rebuilt.

Actually, this is a very common failure mode....take a look at this thread.

97 4runner 4wd limited

Hello. I have a 1997 Toyota 4runner limited 4wd. Having issues need some help. Had a cylinder 6 code come up. Changed what I could which were spark plug wires, coil pack, fuel injectors. It started running smooth but when it warmed it felt bad shake when like cruising on 50-60 mph. Put code reader on again now telling me Cylinder 3 misfiring. Changed spark plug but still misfiring?

Cylinder 3 & 6 share the same coil which is located on top of cylinder 3 - right side (as sitting in the driver's seat), middle cylinder. You say that you already replaced the coils? Did you reuse the boot? If so, check it for evidence of arcing - replace coil boots if necessary. Check your spark plug wire routing. You also replaced the injectors? Make sure electrical connection to cylinder 3 injector is secure. If problem persists, swap cylinder 3 & 5 coil to see if miss moves to either 5 or 2. If that doesn't identify the problem, replace cylinder 3 injector with one of the old ones that you took out but not the one that came from cylinder 6.

I've changed coil and spark plug 3 times now. every time I take the coil out it is burnt with white residue. sort like it exploded. it appeared to be boarded out, what mechanic said. changing HG should help?

Spark is like water, it takes the path of least resistance. Spark has to go somewhere if it cant reach the spark plug.
What coils are you putting in, maybe they're inferior in quality and not able to isolate the spark properly?
Hows the condition of your coil boots and spark plug wires?
Doubt a bad head gasket would be killing your ignition coils.
