On a series note...where the skid ends by the center diff...be careful not to go off an edge and try to back up...it catches like a *****....don't ask me how I know

Thanks! I'm constantly looking for that trouble but it's hard to come by in this part of Florida. Down here off-roading is having a jeep with 37's and getting stuck in the mud (not really my cup of tea). My daughter is starting to get to the age where she wants to go camping, so hopefully we'll get to check out some spots in North Florida this winter. I also plan on getting out whenever we go visit family in the mid-Atlantic.
Next step will be tires!

Started liking finer beer living in Federal Hill in Baltimore, a bunch of local establishments that serve local craft beers. I then became a true beer snob after living in the Bay Area, CA.

Finally got around to installing my RCI Aluminum Gas Tank Skid. The overall install was easy but I was starting to get frustrated trying to fit under the vehicle, so half way through I ran out to Walmart and bought some Rhino Ramps. This made everything 10x easier!
I was also going to install my rear differential skid but realized once I was under the car that I was missing the front support bracket (when I got the skids and sliders from the person I bought them from I never realized it wasn't included). I can't be mad because of the deal that I got for all of the stuff (essentially the rear differential skid and sliders were freebies). Anyway I'll put in a call to RCI this week and see if they can ship me the bracket.
So as of now, underbelly protection is pretty much complete, can't wait to get it "unclean" at Hard Rock off road park next weekend with some of the other Florida 4runners group.

I also put some grip tape on my RCI sliders today at the request of my 4 year old daughter. She kept complaining that "her steps" were too slippery when they got wet, which happens all the time here in South Florida. So I obliged my teenager in a 4 year old's body by putting some traction on them.

Hard Rock Ocala 10/1/2016
So I'm about a week late on this write-up, spent most of the week prepping for Hurricane Matthew. We just got grazed but North of us is getting pounded.
Last week the Florida 4runners group had a meet-up at the Ocala Hard Rock off Road Park. The best way to describe it is a Central Florida version of Rausch Creek up in Pennsylvania, although smaller and more crowded. We started out on a basic trail ride, which was pretty interesting. I didn't know this type of terrain existed Florida as my knowledge of the state is mainly of the 95 corridor and South Eastern Florida, down in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area. Below are some pics. I also got stuck for the first time in the 4runner (high centered on a mud bank) and winched out...definitely a new learning experience. Thanks to [MENTION=134723]kSteven813[/MENTION] for some of the pics (he has the sweet Mag Grey trail with SSO Hybrid bumper).

Nice pics! Which tires were you running there? That mud looked pretty thick!

At around noon, the trails started getting really crowded. The terrain, in my opinion, was not worth the crowds and that sentiment was shared by several other members. I am not a fan of Florida mud, especially Florida rock quarry mud (below is a pic of what I pulled out of my undercarriage and skid plates once it dried).
So 6 of us broke off and drove 40 minutes southeast to Ocala National Forest. One of the guys who was with us knew the trails here very well and kind of gave us a tour. I also ended up camping with him that night. This is one of the few places still left in Florida where you can just drive the trails, explore nature, and pull over to primitive camp wherever you find space.

In the end 4 of the trucks ended up driving back home. Me and our tour guide ended up finding a secluded camping spot next to a crystal clear freshwater lake. I got to test out my new Zika screens since I slept in the back of the truck (made from $7 worth of mosquito netting and magnets from Joann Fabrics). They worked fantastically.

All in all a good weekend getaway (which doesn't occur as much as I would like with the two young ones at home). Got to test some new places, one that I likely won't return to (Hard Rock) and one that I can't wait to go back to (ONF). I also broke in all of my new skids and the sliders.
I'm really glad that I found Ocala National Forest though. It is beautiful, not too far and is a perfect place to bring my daughter camping this winter (one of the reasons that I wanted to camp in the forest was to get a little scouting report). If you go to ONF it will pinstripe the hell out of your vehicle if you take any of the side trails.
Sleeping in the back of the 4runner wasn't too bad, especially when you wake up to this.

Stock Dunlops....LOL! First time they have let me down. Next major purchase for the vehicles will be new tires....hopefully sooner than later. Likely candidates at this time are Cooper AT3, or Falken AT3w.

You gotta get outta there man, come out west!!! LOL. I lived in Fort lauderdale for 3 years and while the beaches and the night life down there was fun, I couldn't wait to get out of the concrete jungle. My commute everyday was the 95 and 826 and if it was bad I'd be in traffic for about 1hr 15min. Wasn't a way to get around it either. There truly isn't really anywhere to take your truck out in SFL that I found remotely fun. It's flat, hot, humid, muddy, and nothing really inspiring. You can find a few places in the Everglades and that ORV park out in Ft. Myers but it's limited at best. I kinda feel the only off roading down there is if you like to go mudding but other than that the scenery didn't get me too excited. Now that I'm in Utah it's like heaven out here lol!!!!

Lol!!! I actually just moved last year from the SF Bay Area (which was like a super expensive heaven) and before that Maryland. I move based on my wife's job as she is my sugar mama...I'm just a lowly teacher. We are trying to stay put for a little while since my 4 year old has lived in 3 states already, my son 2. In a few years we plan to move again, as Florida does not really match our style of living, but my wife's job opportunity down here as well as the tax laws will hopefully set us up financially for the long haul.

RCI Rear Diff Skid
Finally got around to installing my rear differential skid. I attempted to do it about a month ago with the other skids, but noticed while installing that I was missing the pinion support bracket (the skid was purchased from a 3rd party so when I brought it home I had no idea it was missing a part). I mentioned in the "What you did in your 5th Gen Today" thread but I'll say it again here, the customer support from RCI and [MENTION=90834]joshp767[/MENTION] , the rep here on T4R was absolutely outstanding. After contacting him, and getting in touch on the phone the missing part along with the some extra hardware I ordered was shipped within 24hrs.
