D Link Router problems

ran

I have this EBR2310 router from 2007. 4 ports that lite up when the PC is powered. Led off when powered down. One machine stays on even when powered down. XP Pro PCs. Nothing like Remote Access is on. (I think Wake on Lan is in BIOS). Same machine got hit with Trogens last nite. Even powered down a virus can't be letting remote access??? (CAT 5E in the walls to all rooms). thanks

I don't have anti virus. Viruses don't like my machine:banana: ha! ha!

I heard MIcrosoft Security Essentials uses less resources than other anti-virus softwares.
Incase it gets infected, I'll manually locate the malware and delet it in "safe mode". There were times I used Malwarebytes and Spybot SD.
For playing with hackers I use "Deep Freeze"

Avast's free anti-virus program and Zone Alarm for firewall. Upgrading to Win7 soon. I hope it'll be better than Vista.

My Linksys router is the same. Some PCs when off, the LEDs for that port on the Linksys goes off, while other PCs, it'll stay on solid (indicating no network activity). The PCs that causes the Linksys LEDs to stay on, its NIC indicator light also stays on when the PC is off. I think it has to do with wake-on-LAN even though it's not enabled.

Thanks guys. I wrote to D-Link,nothing yet. Wife's machine is almost back to normal. (can't get her to switch to Opera/FireFox, still on IE7). fun times ahead.
