Just curious as to which M/T or more aggressive A/T has the best wear life? These are specifically the tires I've looked at seriously...

If you (or a friend) have direct experience with one of these, what mileage did you get out of them?

BFG A/Ts aren't on the list, but they seem to last really long. Longer than the KM2s (or any muds) do. Other than that, the Nitto TGs because they're A/Ts too. I would guess the Duratracs would last longer than a normal mud because they're sort of a hybrid mud/all-terrain.

Muds are loud on a DD too. I say if you don't off road much, get A/Ts.

Duratracs aren't a M/T. More of a hybrid between M/T and A/T. Very good tires though, I have them on my 06 Wrangler and they have done me well in all conditions.

Once again the Mickey T's aren't on this thread which makes me

For me My T's have almost 0 road noise on the road and perform as expected all the way down to 8 psi :gun6:

As for tread life i cannot give you an accurate estimation as to their duration.

Yea I didn't include the BFG A/Ts just b/c I'm not a huge fan of them, though I do know they last a long time. I'm really looking for that hybrid Mud/All-Terrain (but if I weren't able to find something like that I'd go for straight M/T). And noise doesn't bother me at all. All the guys I grew up with are running aggressive M/Ts, Krawlers, Swampers, etc... so I know what I'm getting into. I'll be mostly running mud, hunting trails, the trails at Uwharrie, and sand when I make it out to the Outer Banks & Carolina Beach. So to me a M/T or M-A/T hybrid is definitely worth it vs. the A/T.

The Duratracs are the best hybrid AT/MT IMO. Next would be the Dunlop Maxx Tractions (which I ran this winter and they had very good on road handling and were far and away the best snow tires I've ever driven on - they felt as if I had chains on). I'm sure the Duratracs are just as good in the snow too (Goodyear owns Dunlop) and they have the same severe winter rating, not to mention the Duratracs are better looking IMO.

I put ~5000 miles on the Dunlops and sold them for almost what I paid for them with virtually no tread wear. I sold them only because they were E rated and my truck just felt too stiff for my liking (plus I wanted to try out 255/85/16s anyways). I will say that neither the Duratracs or the Dunlops will do as good off road as a normal MT. I've found that the spacing between the lugs is tighter and doesn't eject and clear itself out as well as a standard MT. In mud, my hybrids turned into slicks where my Bighorns just fling that crap out and dig much better.

On a side note, I would consider the Nitto TGs to be a full A/T, not a hybrid. I'm personally not crazy about the look of these tires, but I've seen worse.

I actually want to get Nitto Trail Grapplers. When I put the lift on I'll be getting the 295/70/17s, does anyone have this size tire on their rigs?

I am running BFG AT's and love them, long lasting, amazing traction and great road manners since I drive about 60 miles/day for work I highly recommend them.

With that being said, I have been watching and reading about what people are running on their 4r's and if I was to make a 2nd recommendation I would just go with BFG KM2's 3rd recommendation would be duratracs. The peeps on here with duratracs get the look and performance of the MT at a decent price point, as for how long they will last we are yet to find out.

Yea I've been seriously thinking about the Trail Graps too. A buddy of mine has them on his Silverado in that size actually. His truck is bare stock but the Silverado can fit close to a 34" before they need a lift to fit bigger tires if I'm right. He mostly uses them on sand and hunting trails but hasn't had them for more than a year now so I'm kinda waiting a little while to hear from him on how the tread is wearing. They're definitely sick looking tires and if they're a good mix between the Terra & the Mud like Nitto says they're supposed to be they'll be an awesome tire. Only downside is the price... :moping:

I think for my purpose though it just wouldn't be aggressive enough, which is why I'm leaning towards the AT/MT hybrid (like the DuraTrac or Trail Grappler). I have heard though that some people's BFG KM2's end up lasting a long time... like 50k miles, which I would be totally satisfied with.

For all my indecisiveness though, I could tell you that I'll probably go with the DuraTrac or the Trail Grappler when the time comes.

You'll be happy with the duratracs. Great performance in rain/snow and cleans out great offroad as well as grips well. Like I've said before, I have em on my wrangler and I think they are perfect for a DD/weekend warrior like most guys have. They are wearing well for me too, I have about 10k or so on them and aside from rounded edges on the lugs from normal wear they still look new.
